Drone roof survey in Bagshot, Surrey
A careful look at the roof at your property in Bagshot, with photos and a written report.
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
- Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
How a drone roof survey works in Bagshot
A drone shows the outside of a roof very well, but it cannot see under the coverings or into the loft. Where there’s safe access, we look in the roof space too, because the underside tells its own story. Together, the two give a fuller picture. The report sets out what the drone showed and what we found inside. Where the loft cannot be reached safely, we note it. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, tall and steep roofs and large and complex roofs, and people most often book us about lifted or split lead flashings and chimney tops in poor condition.
Around Bagshot, older homes can have thin loft insulation and later additions with roofs of their own. A thermal image can show where heat is escaping or where moisture may be trapped, and drone photos show the roof surfaces themselves. Findings are checked with moisture readings where needed. Calm, dry weather suits both methods, so the date is set with the forecast in mind.
The report records the roof as we found it on the day. It’s useful straight away, and a good reference for later, such as when you want to compare after future work.

What we cannot see
Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, so a survey has limits:
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
- A structural engineer’s report
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will suggest the right survey. What our survey covers.
Roof types and parts we check
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Fragile roofs
- Large and complex roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Chimney stacks
- Tall and steep roofs
Can I check my roof myself?
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and falls from height are serious. That’s where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
How it works
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, such as stains, drips or loose pieces, and we’ll take it from there. The survey itself takes about one to two hours at a typical home, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. For a survey in Bagshot, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. Let us know about any garages, outbuildings or extensions you want included.
- You give us the address and let us know about the roof.
- Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
- Find any records of previous roof work
- Keep pets in another room

Common questions in Bagshot
Is my home in Bagshot listed or in a conservation area?
Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it’s worth checking before planning any.
Is drone flying allowed in Bagshot?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.
How soon will I get the report?
That depends on the survey you book: the Basic Survey report arrives within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey the same day. Reports are sent by email.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first, with whoever owns or manages the building. Mention it when you contact us and we’ll plan the survey around it.
Will you check the loft?
If it is needed and safe to reach, yes. We look for staining, damp, daylight and signs of movement, as far as the space allows.
Will you photograph what you find?
Yes. The report includes photos of what we found, so you can see exactly what each finding refers to.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. Asbestos surveys and sampling aren’t something we do. Where a material might contain it, like old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it, with a recommendation to have a specialist asbestos surveyor check before it is disturbed.
Drone roof surveys around Bagshot
England has around 10,000 conservation areas and about 500,000 listed buildings. If your home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission, so the council is the place to ask. Older houses across Surrey frequently have handmade clay tiles, and many have tile-hanging. Some old buildings in Surrey and Sussex have Horsham stone slab roofs. Many roofs like these cannot be judged properly from the pavement, and that’s where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place.
If you live in an older home near The Brook Church, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps. Take a building like Bagshot Infant School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.
