Beckton Drone Roof Survey
An experienced roof surveyor for drone roof surveys in Beckton. Over 5,000 surveys and 20+ years behind us.
- Hidden gutters full of leaves
- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
Tips that help
A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They apply to most roofs:
- Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
- Expect a little longer if permission is needed
- Keep dogs indoors during the visit
- Let us know the exact address when you book
Keep the photos with your property records. They give you something to compare against later.
Look at the roof from ground level after strong winds. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone can show exactly what has moved.
Drone roof survey in Beckton: what you get
A drone can see more than your roof, so we take care. The camera stays on your roof, not on neighbouring homes and gardens. If your roof is shared, a word with next door beforehand helps. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Each flight is kept short and stays focused on the roof we’re there to survey. If you’ve noticed coverings that have slipped high up on the roof and eroded pointing on a chimney stack, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.
London airspace is busy and tightly controlled: there are flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Before a drone goes up in Beckton, the address is checked against all of them, and where permission is needed, the flight waits for it.
You receive the findings by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and same day for Premium.

Drones, thermal imaging and Beckton roofs
The flight restriction zone around London City Airport covers Beckton, or comes right up to its edge. Before any flight there, we ask the airport for permission, and the flight only goes ahead if it is given. There are several hotels within about a mile and a half of Beckton, and like offices and blocks, hotels frequently sit under flat roofs. If you look after one, a large roof can be surveyed without guests having anyone working above them.
Eastbury Manor House lies about 1.9 miles north-east, so building around Beckton goes back a long way. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey by drone or thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself. Take a building like Gallions Primary School: big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.

When you need someone else
A survey is a close look at the roof, but it cannot do everything. The main limits are:
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will tell you before you book. The full list of what we check.
What this survey covers
- Large and complex roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Chimney stacks
- Tall and steep roofs
- Fragile roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors
How the survey works
We photograph the roof as we go, so the report shows exactly what we saw. We take close-ups from wherever is safe. Most surveys take about one to two hours on an ordinary house, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. From the street, a London terrace normally shows only its front slope or parapet, so a visit in Beckton moves between viewpoints: the pavement, upstairs windows, the loft and any safe spot at the back. If other people live in the building, let us know who can let us into the shared parts.
- You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
- On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about parking near the property
- If you’re buying, let the agent know when we are coming
- Leave side gates unlocked
How to book
Photos help, if you have them. Take them safely from ground level or a window; never climb up to get a better view. To get started, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Advice
When to book a survey in Beckton
Height and steep pitches make close inspection risky. Three-storey houses, blocks of flats and tall commercial buildings are common examples. We fly from the ground and bring the camera close to the roof.
It’s worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
- Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
Take an older house close to St Michael and All Angels Church: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
What to check before booking
- Their track record with similar roofs
- Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
- Their report turnaround times
Questions from Beckton
Can parking be tricky for a visit in Beckton?
It can be, so it’s useful to tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space when you book. The visit is then planned around what’s available.
Are there drone restrictions around Beckton?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. The flight restriction zone around London City Airport covers Beckton, or comes right up to its edge. Before any flight there, we ask the airport for permission, and the flight only goes ahead if it is given. Across London there are restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, plus restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.
Are you structural engineers?
No. We note visible signs such as sagging or deflection, but we do not carry out calculations or give an engineer’s opinion. If we think you need an engineer, the report says so.
What does a roof survey cost?
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The final figure depends on the roof and the package you choose, and it’s agreed before booking.
How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Beckton?
It’s easiest to phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form. Tell us the address and a little about the roof, and we’ll take it from there. We survey on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, as long as access is agreed. Roofs over flats are frequently shared, so we need permission from the freeholder or managing agent. We can only inspect what we’re given access to.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
We carry out surveys on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. To find a day that suits you, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

Can I check my roof myself?
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
You can learn a lot from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.
How the survey changes by roof type
Chimney stacks
Our drone check of a chimney is visual, and it isn’t a flue or gas safety check. If the flue needs a specialist, we will tell you.
Large commercial roofs
Big roofs on offices, warehouses and units take time to inspect. A drone photographs the whole surface methodically.
