Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Berrylands
Drones need reasonable weather. Strong wind or a downpour rules out a flight, because control and safety come first. If the day turns out unsuitable, we will talk about another date or inspect what we can by other means. The forecast is checked ahead of the visit and again on the day. Calm, dry conditions give the sharpest close-up photos. Waiting for a better day is better than a rushed flight. If you are worried about flashings that have come away and debris building up in hidden gutters, we can find out what’s behind it, on fragile roofs, chimney stacks and flat roofs on upper floors alike.
In London’s terraces and conversions, roofs are packed close together, so privacy and neighbours matter as much as the view. We take care to focus on the roof we’ve been asked to look at. Let us know about the building and access as you book. The extra view helps most on steep slopes, tall stacks and rear additions.
You receive the findings by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

Drones, thermal imaging and Berrylands roofs
Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons.
Shop and office owners around Bentall Centre may find that thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof. If you look after a building such as Christ Church CofE Primary School, big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once. Hampton Court Palace lies about 2.4 miles west, so building around Berrylands goes back a long way. For older roofs nearby, a look from the air or with a thermal camera is a hands-off way to check condition.

What we can’t see
Before you book, it is worth knowing what a survey will not do:
- A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will point you to the right survey. What our survey covers.
Roof types and parts we check
- Fragile roofs
- Large and complex roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Tall and steep roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Flat roofs on upper floors
Why it’s worth a survey now in Berrylands
A drone record gives you a baseline. Comparing them with later photos shows what has changed. It is useful for planning maintenance over the years. In a London terrace or conversion, a roof defect rarely stays your problem alone: failed flashings and blocked valley gutters can send water into more than one home. Finding it early keeps the work smaller.
The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where applicable, from £400 including VAT. We will tell you which package suits the questions you have.

DIY checks: what’s safe
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are frequently out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.

Common questions in Berrylands
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Berrylands?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.
Can parking be tricky for a visit in Berrylands?
London parking needs a little planning, so let us know about permits, bays or a driveway when booking. The visit is then planned around what’s available.
How do I book a survey in Berrylands?
To book, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address, the type of property and what’s prompted the survey. We will confirm the price and agree a day with you.
Will you walk on the roof?
Only when it is safe. Most of what we need can be seen from safe viewpoints, the loft and, where it applies, a drone, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.
How much is a survey?
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. You’ll know the exact price before booking. For a price, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
Do you take photos of the roof?
Yes, plenty. Each finding is shown in a picture where possible.
What do I do with the report?
We email you the written report with photos and recommendations. It is yours to share with a seller, insurer, roofer or managing agent, whichever applies.
Different roofs, different checks
Steep slate and tile slopes
Steep slopes are hard to inspect safely on foot. From the air, every course of slates or tiles can be seen.
Large commercial roofs
Older cement sheet roofs may contain asbestos. We flag it in the report so a specialist asbestos surveyor can check.
Practical tips
These tips come from what we see on roofs every week, before and after a survey:
- Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
- Move stored items away from the hatch
- Allow time for permission if you are in a flight restriction zone
- Tell us the exact address when you book
There is a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit.
Plan a drone survey every few years for tall or large roofs. Regular photos make changes easy to spot, and early repairs keep water out.
How the survey works
A survey visit follows a simple order: we listen to what’s been worrying you, inspect the roof from each safe vantage point, photograph what we find and make notes for the report. Most visits take about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. From the street, a London terrace typically shows only its front slope or parapet, so a visit in Berrylands moves between viewpoints: the pavement, upstairs windows, the loft and any safe spot at the back. Shared stairs or a basement flat? Tell us who holds the keys.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- We also look inside the roof space where it is safe.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
Preparing for the visit
- Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Let us know about parking near the property
