Drone roof survey in Brockbridge
Before any flight, we check the airspace. Near protected airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, flight restriction zones mean permission is needed first. Central London has restricted areas of its own, which need NATS permission. If we cannot fly, we use other safe vantage points instead and tell you. Prison sites also have drone restriction zones. We are often asked to look into cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below and eroded pointing on a chimney stack, on flat roofs on upper floors, fragile roofs and large and complex roofs.
In a village or hamlet like Brockbridge, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what can’t be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned in advance. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
How fast the report arrives depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

What else we do in Brockbridge
When you need someone else
A survey is a careful look at the roof, but it can’t do everything. The main limits are:
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- Flights in strong wind or heavy rain
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll recommend the right survey before you book. The full list of what we check.
What this survey covers
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Large and complex roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Fragile roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
What happens if roof problems are left?
On a tall building, problems are often found only when water comes in. By that stage the damage has spread inside. A drone survey finds them sooner. Around Brockbridge, older homes often have old roof timbers, where water from a failed roof can cause rot if it is left.
Prices quoted always include VAT, and the report is not charged as an extra. Our price is from £400, including VAT. Size, height and access decide where your roof falls.

The survey, step by step
Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can be seen safely is inspected, and anything we can’t see is noted in the report. Most visits take an hour or two at a typical home, and longer for a large or complex roof. In a hamlet or village like Brockbridge, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
- Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
- Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are looked at.
- The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Let us know where we can park nearby
- Make sure we can get to the back of the property
- Find any records of previous roof work

Different roofs, different checks
Steep slate and tile slopes
On slate roofs, slipped slates frequently point to corroded nails. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.
Chimney stacks
The drone shows the outside of the stack, and it is not a flue or gas safety check. We will say if a specialist is needed.
Useful tips for Brockbridge property owners
Most of what helps is simple and safe from ground level. Our suggestions:
- Allow time for permission if you are in a flight restriction zone
- Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
- Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
If you need work done, roofers can work from the photos. They’ll see exactly where each defect is, so their quotes cover the same ground.
Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Comparing surveys shows what is wearing, and early repairs keep water out.
Flying and imaging in Brockbridge
Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. Some Hampshire villages still have thatched roofs. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from ground level, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.
Anyone responsible for a site like Meonstoke Church of England Infant School will know that thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary and All Saints, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Common questions in Brockbridge
How do I find out if my home in Brockbridge is listed?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Do you cover smaller places like Brockbridge?
Yes, Brockbridge is covered. We survey roofs across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
Every survey is covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
Does someone need to be in?
That depends on the survey. For inside areas and the loft space, someone has to give us access; we’ll agree the details as you book.
Can the drone do thermal imaging?
The drone survey is a photographic inspection. Thermal imaging is carried out separately, included in our Premium Survey.
What if it is windy or raining on the day?
Safety comes first, so the weather decides. We won’t fly in strong wind or heavy rain. We’ll talk through the options if the day turns bad.
Are you structural engineers?
No. Visible signs such as deflection or sagging are recorded, but calculations and an engineer’s opinion are outside what we do. If one is needed, the report says so.
