Cranmore Drone Roof Survey
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach for Cranmore, from an experienced roof surveyor. Every survey comes with a written report and photos.
- Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
How a drone roof survey works in Cranmore
The weather decides whether a drone can fly. Strong wind or a downpour rules out a flight, because the drone has to stay safely under control. If the day turns out unsuitable, we’ll talk about another date. We check the forecast before the visit and again on site. Light wind and dry weather give the clearest close-up photos. Waiting for a better day is better than a rushed flight. If you’ve noticed moss and weeds taking hold up top and cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.
Villages like Cranmore often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or a downpour stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
Every survey ends with a written report, with photographs, emailed to you. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

How the survey works
The aim of the visit is simple: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Notes and photos go into the written report. The visit normally takes between one and two hours on an ordinary house, and longer for a large or complex roof. Cottages and farmhouses around Cranmore often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints.
- You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.
How to prepare
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Cranmore
Is Cranmore within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We survey roofs across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.
Is drone flying allowed in Cranmore?
Usually it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.
Does someone need to be in?
It depends on what we need to see. For inside areas and the loft space, someone has to give us access.
Will you photograph what you find?
Yes. Photos are part of every report, so you can see each point for yourself.
How quickly is the report sent?
Each package has its own report time. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. Mention any deadline as you book.
How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Cranmore?
To book, call 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address, the type of property and what’s prompted the survey. We’ll confirm the price and find a day that suits.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. We check the roof, not the whole building, and it isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.

Practical tips
Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Tips:
- Move stored items away from the hatch
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
- A word with neighbours beforehand helps
The Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation to talk through the photos and findings. You can ask about anything that isn’t clear.
Keep gutters, valleys and outlets clear, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Many leaks start with a blocked outlet.
How the survey changes by roof type
Large commercial roofs
Big roofs on offices, warehouses and units take time to inspect. A drone photographs the whole surface methodically, so nothing is skipped.
Ridges and hips
Some ridges are fixed with mortar, others with dry-fix systems. We record what we see of their condition.
For landlords and managing agents
Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget, with the most urgent items set out first.
Surveys can also be booked by buyers’ agents acting for a client. The report is emailed, so it can go straight to your client.
Airspace, weather and Cranmore roofs
Cranmore lies within about 1 mile of the sea, and wind near the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. About 3.4 miles south-east lies Swainston Manor, a reminder of how long the area around Cranmore has been built on. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Shalfleet Church of England Primary School, big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once.

What this survey cannot tell you
Every survey has limits, and it’s better to know them up front. Keep these in mind:
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
If you are not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer before booking. What our survey covers.
