Drone roof survey in Enslow

We carry out drone roof surveys in Enslow and across London and the South East, where the airspace and the weather allow. We fly on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, phone 07833 053749 or email us with the address. If you’re worried about ridge pieces that have lifted and outlets choked with leaves and silt, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.

In a village or hamlet like Enslow, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what can’t be reached safely. Weather and airspace are checked ahead of the visit. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

Nothing in the report is left vague: where something needs attention, it says so plainly.

Questions from Enslow

Will you come out to Enslow?

Yes, we do. We work right across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

How do I find out if my home in Enslow is listed?

Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.

How soon will I get the report?

Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. Each one is emailed.

Does someone need to be in?

It depends on what we need to see. For inside areas and the loft space, someone has to give us access, while outside access can be discussed when booking.

How do I book a survey in Enslow?

It’s easiest to phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. Give us the address and a few details about the roof, and we will take it from there. Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Do you hold CAA registration for the drone?

Yes, we are. The CAA has issued us a Flyer ID and an Operator ID, and we fly a drone that weighs under 250g.

Can you survey a shared roof?

Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first, with whoever owns or manages the building. Let us know about it when you book and we’ll plan the survey around it.

Common roof problems in Enslow

Chimney tops take the worst of the weather. Cracked flaunching, loose pots and eroded pointing are often invisible from below. A drone gets close enough to see them in detail.

Common reasons to book include:

  • Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
  • Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
  • Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
  • Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack

With Blenheim Palace about 3 miles south-west, the area around Enslow has a long history. Close-up aerial shots and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.

Before you book any roof surveyor

  • Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
  • What happens after the report arrives
  • Will the report include photos?
  • Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?

What a roof survey includes

Rented homes, blocks and businesses

For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. Recommendations are set out in order of urgency where relevant.

Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, from shops and offices to industrial units. Larger roofs take longer, and they’re priced for the size.

Checking the roof from the ground

Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date.

A lot can be seen from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.

Airspace, weather and Enslow roofs

Oxford Airport is about 2 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. West Oxfordshire’s older buildings frequently carry Cotswold stone slates, and a few villages in the county keep their thatch. Older houses in the South East often have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail.

Anyone responsible for a site like Bletchingdon Parochial Church of England Primary School will know that big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once. Take an older house close to Church of Holy Cross: steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.

Enslow is about 7 miles south-west of Bicester, in Oxfordshire. Wherever you are in Enslow, we can come and survey your property. Across Oxfordshire, we cover Enslow and the places around it. There is also a page for Oxford.

Surveys in OX5 work the same way as everywhere else we cover. Streets in the area include Station Road, Lince Lane and Ingleby Paddocks, and we cover them all. We also cover the places around Enslow: Bletchingdon (1 mile east), Kirtlington (1 mile north-east), Hampton Poyle (2 miles south-east), Kidlington (3 miles south) and Weston-on-the-Green (3 miles east). Within a short drive, we also cover Oxford (8 miles south), Banbury (14 miles north), Bicester (7 miles north-east), Abingdon-on-Thames (13 miles south), Witney (10 miles south-west) and Carterton (14 miles south-west).

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

Several things affect the price of a survey:

  • House, block, shop or office
  • The shape of the roof and its details
  • How many separate roofs there are, like extensions, dormers and garages
  • Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed

We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all inc. VAT. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

Getting in touch

Getting the details right at the start saves time. It’s useful to include:

  • Your timetable, such as an exchange date
  • The address and postcode of the property
  • The style of property, from a terrace to a block
  • What made you get in touch

If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Take them safely from ground level or a window. To send them or to book, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

How the survey works

The aim of the visit is simple: to see as much of the roof as can safely be seen and record it clearly. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. The visit typically takes about one to two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Around Enslow, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so it helps to know whether there is a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. We only go where it is safe.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
  3. Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

Getting ready for the survey

  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
  • Check we can get to the back of the property
  • Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand

What we cannot see

This isn’t a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:

  • A flight where airspace permission is refused
  • A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
  • Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
