What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
All our prices include VAT. The things that change the price are:
- Which survey package you book
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- The size of the roof
- How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all including VAT. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.
Booking your survey
To price your survey accurately, we will ask about:
- Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
- Any photos you have, taken from the ground or a window
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- The reason for the survey, like buying, a leak or storm damage
To book a survey, call 07833 053749 or email us and tell us the address and what’s prompted the survey. We’ll confirm the price before booking.
How a drone roof survey works in Weston-on-the-Green
Drone roof surveys are available in Weston-on-the-Green and throughout London and the South East, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. If you are worried about blistered or cracked flat roof coverings and hidden gutters full of leaves, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on chimney stacks, flat roofs on upper floors and fragile roofs alike.
Villages like Weston-on-the-Green frequently stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
What you get is a clear record of the roof on the day we saw it. It’s useful right away, and a good reference for later, for instance when you want to check whether anything has changed.

Different roofs, different checks
Ridges and hips
Wind lifts loose ridge and hip tiles. Spotting them early stops them falling.
Steep slate and tile slopes
On slate roofs, slipped slates frequently point to corroded nails. We can see the extent of it from above.
How the survey works
When we arrive, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that’s worrying you. We then inspect everything that can be seen safely. The survey normally takes between one and two hours for a house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Cottages and farmhouses around Weston-on-the-Green often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely, and anything we can’t see is noted.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- We arrange any permission that’s needed before we fly.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- We email a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Preparing for the visit

When to book a survey in Weston-on-the-Green
The top of a stack is the most exposed part of many roofs. From ground level, you rarely see cracked flaunching or loose pots. A drone gets close enough to see them in detail.
Problems we come across often include:
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
- Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
- Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that is where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps.
What to check before booking
- Their track record with similar roofs
- What exactly goes into their report
- Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
- Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?
Checking the roof from ground level
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey.
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date, which helps when we check the roof.
Flying and imaging in Weston-on-the-Green
An older home may be listed, or stand in a conservation area. Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the council can say whether a street is in a conservation area. In either case, a change of roofing material may need consent. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons.
For businesses in and around places such as Bicester Avenue, large commercial roofs are frequently easiest to see from above or with a thermal imager.

Questions from Weston-on-the-Green
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Weston-on-the-Green?
Usually it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Is Weston-on-the-Green within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. We work right across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Will you photograph what you find?
Yes. The report includes photos of what we found, so you can see exactly what each finding refers to.
How many surveys have you done?
We have completed more than 5,000 surveys, over more than 20 years, with 98% customer satisfaction.
How do I book a survey in Weston-on-the-Green?
It is easiest to ring 07833 053749 or email us. Give us the address and some details about the roof, and we’ll suggest the right survey. We survey on any day of the week.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. Our survey is a roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey of the whole building. It focuses on the roof and can sit alongside a RICS survey.
Are you structural engineers?
No. Visible signs such as deflection or sagging are recorded, but we do not provide calculations or an engineer’s opinion. If one is needed, the report says so.
Landlords, agents and block managers in Weston-on-the-Green
If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in, at a time agreed beforehand. We survey on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays, which helps when tenants work during the week.
We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords, including offices, shops and units. Bigger roofs take more time, and they’re priced for the size.
