Thermal Roof Survey in Weston-on-the-Green
Thermal roof surveys in Weston-on-the-Green from an independent, experienced roof surveyor. More than 20 years and over 5,000 surveys.
- Ceilings that feel colder in places
- Gaps in loft insulation
- Heat escaping through the roof
What a thermal roof survey does not cover
Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, so a survey has limits:
- What’s inside walls or under coverings, without opening up
- An energy rating for the building
- Seeing water directly, as the camera shows temperature, not moisture
If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer before booking. What our survey covers.
Roof types and parts we check

- Loft conversions
- Commercial roofs
- Flat roofs
- Pitched roof slopes
- Ceilings below the roof
About our thermal roof survey in Weston-on-the-Green
We present each thermal image next to a normal photo of the same area, making it clear where on the roof each pattern is. We explain what each pattern may mean, what the moisture readings found and what we recommend. With a Premium Survey, the report reaches you the same day. If you have questions, the in-person consultation gives you time to go through them. A follow-up 12 months later is included too. If you are worried about thin or uneven insulation in the roof and damp around chimneys and parapets, we can find out what’s behind it.
In a village or hamlet like Weston-on-the-Green, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned in advance. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. That way, it’s clear what was covered and what wasn’t.

The survey, step by step
You don’t need to do much on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we will get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes between one and two hours for a house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. For a village or hamlet like Weston-on-the-Green, the journey is planned beforehand: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. The roof is looked at from ground level, from windows, from the loft where there is safe access and from the roof where it is safe.
- We go through the roof, the problem and the weather expected on the day.
- We look over the roof from wherever it is safe.
- Thermal images are taken across the roof and, where there is safe access, in the loft.
- Patterns that stand out are checked with moisture readings.
- Each image is set beside a normal photo and explained in the report.
How to prepare
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
How to book
A quick phone call is usually the easiest start: call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll ask a few questions about the roof. The price is agreed before a date is set.

What we are asked to look at in Weston-on-the-Green
Some owners book because the rooms under the roof feel cold. Gaps in loft insulation and poorly insulated roof areas can show up on the camera, especially when it is warm inside and cold outside.
Common reasons to book include:
- Water getting in at parapets and stacks
- Cold spots on ceilings under the roof
- Areas of a flat roof that may hold water
- Stains that keep coming back
For businesses in and around places such as Bicester Avenue, big, flat commercial roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images help most.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- How soon the report will arrive
- What they won’t be able to tell you
- Whether the roof space is looked at, where there is one

Landlord and commercial surveys in Weston-on-the-Green
Where a roof is shared: we need access agreed with the building owner or managing agent. Mention it when you contact us and we will plan the visit with that in mind.
Letting agents can arrange access with tenants, at a time agreed ahead of time. Surveys run on weekdays and at weekends, which helps when tenants work during the week.
Thermal roof surveys in Weston-on-the-Green: local notes
England has around 10,000 conservation areas and about 500,000 listed buildings. If your home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission, so the council is the place to ask. Where the drone is part of the survey, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying.
The streets around a church such as Church of St Mary are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

What you can safely check yourself
A lot can be seen from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground, and those are details a survey looks at closely.

Weston-on-the-Green: your questions answered
Will you come out to Weston-on-the-Green?
Yes, Weston-on-the-Green is covered. We survey roofs across London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Is my home in Weston-on-the-Green listed or in a conservation area?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Can you do a thermal survey in any weather?
Conditions on the day affect the results. A sunny day beforehand, a dry surface and calm air all help. Rain and strong wind can make the images less clear, so we discuss the forecast when booking.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you’ll need a RICS survey as well.
How does a thermal imaging roof survey work?
It records surface temperature across the roof. Unusual patterns can point to trapped water, gaps in insulation or heat escaping, which we then check with moisture readings.
Do you take photos of the roof?
Yes, every report has them. Pictures sit next to the findings they show, so you can see what we mean.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, if the building owner or managing agent agrees access. We look at the parts we are given access to.
Leave it or get it looked at?
A poorly insulated roof loses heat year after year. The camera can point to gaps and thin areas in the insulation, so improvements can go where they’re needed. For an older or listed building in a place like Weston-on-the-Green, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so leaving a defect until it is urgent leaves less time to plan.
