Drone roof surveys across Fish Island, backed by more than 20 years’ experience. Every survey ends with a written report and photographs.

- Wind damage high on the roof
Roof by roof
Large commercial roofs
Big roofs on offices, warehouses and units take time to inspect. A drone photographs the whole surface methodically.
Ridges and hips
Loose ridge pieces can be lifted in a storm. Finding them early keeps them from coming down.
Drone roof survey in Fish Island
Drone roof surveys are available in Fish Island and throughout London and the South East, where the airspace and the weather allow. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address. Typical surveys look at moss building up on slopes and in gutters and cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots, across tall and steep roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and fragile roofs.
Flying in London takes more checking than most places: there are flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every address in Fish Island is checked before any drone flight, and permission is never taken for granted.

Practical tips
Some practical points come up on survey after survey. They apply to most roofs:
- Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
- Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
- Move stored items away from the hatch
Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit.
Don’t block the vents at the eaves. Condensation in the loft can damage timbers and insulation. Check insulation doesn’t block the airflow.

Shared roofs need a little more planning: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Tell us about it when you book and we’ll plan the survey around it.
Landlords and agents in Fish Island book surveys as well as householders. A photo-illustrated written report gives you a clear record of the roof, useful for planning maintenance.
Flying and imaging in Fish Island
Fish Island is about 2 miles from the edge of the flight restriction zone around London City Airport. We check the exact boundary for the address before flying, and if the roof falls inside it, we ask for permission first. Many homes in inner London are Victorian and Edwardian terraces, often with Welsh slate roofs. Many have butterfly roofs draining to a central valley gutter, with parapet walls and gutters hidden behind them. In a house like that, shared stacks, party-wall upstands and lead flashings all need looking at as far as they can be seen. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.
Anyone responsible for a site like Mossbourne Riverside Academy will know that big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once. For an older house near a landmark like St Mary of Eton, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.
Fish Island is about 1 mile west of Stratford, in Greater London. Surveys in Fish Island work the same way as everywhere we cover: a careful look at everything that’s safely in view, photos and a clear written report. Fish Island is one of the towns and villages in Greater London we cover.
Every address in E3, E9 and E20 is covered for drone roof surveys. Whether your property is on Wick Lane, Dace Road and Wyke Road or anywhere close by, we can help. If you are just outside Fish Island, we cover Hackney Wick (1 mile north), Old Ford (1 mile south), Donnybrook Quarter (1 mile south-west), Bow (1 mile south) and East Village (1 mile north-east). Larger places within reach include London (4 miles south-west), City of Westminster (6 miles west), Marylebone (6 miles west), Kensington (8 miles west), St Pancras (4 miles west) and Shoreditch (3 miles west).

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Fish Island
After storms, owners want to know what has moved. It’s hard to tell from below what has shifted. Close-up photos make it clear what has been disturbed.
Here are some of the things we see frequently:
- Damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
If you run a business near Westfield Stratford City, large commercial roofs are frequently easiest to see by drone or thermal camera.

Common questions in Fish Island
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Fish Island?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Fish Island is about 2 miles from the edge of the flight restriction zone around London City Airport. We check the exact boundary for the address before flying, and if the roof falls inside it, we ask for permission first. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. High wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Is parking a problem for a survey in Fish Island?
It can be, so it’s useful to tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space when booking. That way the visit can be planned around it.
Are you structural engineers?
No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and visible signs such as sagging are noted, but calculations and an engineer’s opinion are outside what we do. The report will say if you need an engineer.
How many surveys have you done?
Over 5,000 surveys so far, across 20+ years of surveying roofs.
Do I need to be at home?
Not always. If we only need the outside, we can agree that in advance, but anything inside needs someone there to give access.
What happens after the survey?
You will get the report by email. With Standard there’s a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.
How long will you be at the property?
Most surveys take between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. We will confirm the timing when booking.
What we do, step by step
Where it is relevant and can be reached safely, the loft space is checked as well as the outside. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging, as far as the space allows. All in, the survey normally takes about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In converted houses and mansion blocks, the loft hatch is often on a shared landing. If that applies to your building, it’s useful to agree access with the neighbours or the managing agent first. Otherwise, the visit in Fish Island runs like any other.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
- Where there’s safe access, we check the loft as well.
- The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.
Before we arrive
- If you are buying, let the agent know when we are coming
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
Booking a survey
If you’re buying, it helps to book soon after your offer is accepted, so there is time to use the report before exchange. Otherwise, simply call 07833 053749 or email us whenever suits you.
Advice
Checking the roof from the ground
Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey.
