What you can safely check yourself

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Don’t go up yourself.

Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Fox

We carry out drone roof surveys in Fox and across London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address. If you’re worried about cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots and worn lead at chimneys and walls, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on large and complex roofs, fragile roofs and tall and steep roofs alike.

In a small place like Fox, open ground can mean strong wind. Strong wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

Most points in the report come with a picture, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

Drones, thermal imaging and Fox roofs

A number of Hampshire villages keep thatched roofs on their older buildings. Older houses in the South East often have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from the ground, drone photos and thermal images add detail. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.

If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Amport Church of England Primary School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

Leave it or get it looked at?

Small defects on a high roof grow with each storm. Finding them now means less to put right, whatever height the roof is. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.

A Basic Survey starts from £150, including VAT. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400. You’ll know the price for your survey before booking.

How it works

The visit has one job: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Notes and photos go into the written report. It typically takes about one to two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Rural addresses near Fox can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.

Before we arrive

  • Find any records of previous roof work
  • Point out any leaks or damp patches
  • Leave side gates unlocked

Ridges and hips

Loose ridge pieces can be lifted in a storm. Spotting them early stops them falling.

Chimney stacks

From the air, a lean or a loose pot is easy to see. Each defect is photographed for the report.

What this survey can’t tell you

Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:

  • Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll tell you. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Chimney stacks

Prices for drone roof surveys in Fox

Survey packages start from £150, with VAT included. What you pay for your roof depends on:

  • How big the roof is
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
  • The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely

What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how safely it can be seen. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT.

Booking your survey

The more you let us know, the easier it is to price the survey. When you contact us, let us know:

  • Dates you’re working to, such as exchange
  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
  • Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
  • Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them

Prices start from £400, including VAT. The exact figure depends on the roof and the package, and you can call 07833 053749 or drop us an email to find out.

Questions from Fox

Are there drone restrictions around Fox?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Is Fox within the area you cover?

Yes. Fox is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our area covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

What if it rains on the day?

Light rain doesn’t usually stop a survey. Heavy rain or strong wind can ground a drone and make the roof unsafe, so we will agree a new date if the weather is not suitable.

What will the report tell me?

A written report with photos, covering the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.

How long is the visit?

It typically takes roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. The written report follows by email.

How do I book a survey in Fox?

Simply phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day, weekday or weekend.

Do I need to be at home?

If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. Access is agreed with you as you book.
