Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Red Rice
Drone roof surveys are available in Red Rice and throughout London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address. We are frequently asked to look into eroded pointing on a chimney stack and outlets choked with leaves and silt, across chimney stacks, fragile roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.
In a small place like Red Rice, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. You’ll know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t.

Questions from Red Rice
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Red Rice?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Are there drone restrictions around Red Rice?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.
How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Red Rice?
To arrange a survey, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and tell us the address and what you’d like to know. We will confirm the price and agree a day with you.
Can you survey in bad weather?
Light rain doesn’t typically stop a survey, and it can even help show where water is getting in. High wind or heavy rain can stop drone flights and make roof access unsafe, so if conditions aren’t right we’ll arrange another day with you.
What does the report include?
It sets out what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, with photos throughout. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, over more than 20 years.
Will you photograph what you find?
Yes. Photos are taken throughout the survey, and the report uses them to show each finding alongside our recommendations.
Drone roof surveys in Red Rice: local notes
Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight. A number of Hampshire villages keep thatched roofs on their older buildings. Older houses in the South East frequently have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. Many roofs like these cannot be judged properly from the pavement, and that’s where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place.
Take a building like Redrice School: thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.
Red Rice is about 3 miles south-west of Andover, in Hampshire. Red Rice gets the same service as everywhere else we work: a careful inspection, photographs and a written report. Red Rice is one of the places in Hampshire where we work. We also survey roofs in Southampton.
We survey roofs across SP11 for drone roof surveys. We cover properties on Red Rice Road and Fullerton Road. If you’re just outside Red Rice, we cover Little Ann (1 mile north), Abbotts Ann (1 mile north-west), Anna Valley (1 mile north), Monxton (2 miles north-west) and Kentsboro (2 miles south-west). Within a short drive, we also cover Winchester (12 miles south-east), Andover (3 miles north-east), Chandler's Ford (14 miles south-east), Romsey (13 miles south), Hyde (12 miles south-east) and Tidworth (8 miles north-west).
Local landmarks in Red Rice
Around Red Rice, our work takes us to homes and buildings near Abbotts Ann Church of England Primary School and John Hanson Community School. For rail, the closest station is Andover station, roughly 2.6 miles north-east of the centre. Nearby you’ll also find Andover Museum (2.8 miles north-east) and Andover War Memorial Hospital (2.8 miles north). Not far away are Mill Lake and Quarley Hill.
Do you need a drone roof survey in Red Rice?
The top of a stack is the most exposed part of many roofs. From ground level, you rarely see cracked flaunching or loose pots. A drone gets close enough to see them in detail.
Typical things we are asked to look at include:
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
- Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
For an older house near a landmark like Church of St Mary the Virgin, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps.
What to check before booking
- Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?
- How much experience they have with roofs like yours
- Are they insured for the work?
- Whether the loft is part of the inspection

What happens if roof problems are left?
On a tall building, problems are often found only when water comes in. By that stage the damage has spread inside. A drone survey finds them sooner. For older village homes like those around Red Rice, the right replacement materials aren’t always easy to find quickly. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.
Every price we give includes VAT. Prices start from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for the job before booking.

The survey, step by step
Time on site depends on the size and shape of the roof; as a rough guide, the survey takes an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. You’re welcome to ask questions while we’re there. Around Red Rice, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so let us know about the loft hatch and any ladder. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- We email a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- If it is not your property yet, arrange access through the agent
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Find any records of previous roof work

Practical tips
Most of what helps is simple and safe from ground level. Our suggestions:
- Book early if you’re near an airport
- Shut pets inside while we fly
- Share the postcode so we can check for restrictions
- Expect us to rearrange if it is too windy or wet
Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit, and whether work has done its job.
Look at the roof from the ground after strong winds. Debris in the garden is a sign to act on. A drone can show exactly what has moved.
How the survey changes by roof type
Chimney stacks
From the air, a lean or a loose pot is easy to see. Each defect is photographed for the report.
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Felt frequently lasts around 15 to 20 years, EPDM rubber around 30 to 50 and GRP up to about 30. We record the signs of age we can see.
