Drone roof survey in Foxbury: what you get

The weather decides whether a drone can fly. We do not fly in strong wind or a downpour, because the drone has to stay safely under control. If the day turns out unsuitable, we will talk about another date or inspect what we can by other means. We check the forecast ahead of the visit and again on site. Calm, dry conditions give the sharpest close-up photos. Waiting for a better day is better than a rushed flight. We’re often asked to look into slates or tiles shifted by high winds and tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack, across flat roofs on upper floors, chimney stacks and valleys and parapet gutters.

London airspace is busy and tightly controlled: restriction zones surround Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs have restricted areas of their own. Before a drone goes up in Foxbury, the address is checked against all of them, and permission is never taken for granted.

Every survey ends with a written report, with photos, emailed to you. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

What a drone roof survey looks like in Foxbury

Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Each address is checked against all of them before the drone goes up.

If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near The Glades, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it. If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Christ Church, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. With Eltham Palace about 2.6 miles north-west, the area around Foxbury has a long history. For older roofs nearby, a look from the air or with a thermal camera is a hands-off way to check condition.

Foxbury is about 1 mile east of Chislehurst, in Greater London. Houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings in Foxbury can all book drone roof surveys. Across Greater London, we cover Foxbury. We also survey roofs in London.

Landlords, agents and block managers in Foxbury

Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget, putting the urgent items at the top.

A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work with less disruption.

How we price drone roof surveys

The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. That comes down to:

  • Height and safe access
  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
  • Which survey package you book

All our prices include VAT. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for your roof before booking.

Getting in touch

A little information up front helps. Please include:

  • Anything about access we should know
  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
  • The address and postcode of the property
  • Any deadline, such as an exchange date

To book a survey, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address and what you’d like to know about the roof. You’ll know the price before anything is booked.

Useful tips for Foxbury property owners

Here are a few things we’d tell any owner:

  • Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
  • Book early if you’re near an airport
  • Let us know the exact address when you book
  • Be ready to move the date if the weather turns

The Premium Survey report comes the same day. It includes the drone photos where a flight was possible, alongside the other checks in the package.

Every so frequently, look in the loft space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. The underside frequently shows problems before the outside does. Photograph anything new.

Questions from Foxbury

Is drone flying allowed in Foxbury?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Foxbury?

For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.

Do you cover Foxbury for drone roof surveys?

Yes. We cover Foxbury and the rest of Greater London, as part of our work across London and the South East. For a price, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

What if it rains on the day?

It can, depending on the survey. Drones can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, and thermal imaging works best with a dry roof, little wind and a sunny day beforehand. If the conditions are not right, we will talk to you about another date.

Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?

Surveys run on weekdays and at weekends. To arrange a date, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

Does someone need to be in?

Not always. If we only need the outside, we can agree that in advance, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.

Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?

Professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover our surveys. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.

Checking the roof from ground level

During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.

After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date.

What we can’t see

To be straight with you, there are limits to any roof survey:

  • Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly
  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)

If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will point you to the right survey before you book. What our survey covers.

What we check

  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Tall and steep roofs

The survey, step by step

Every visit follows the same pattern: we hear what you’ve seen, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, take photos as we go and make notes for the report. Most visits take roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. In Foxbury, visits are available on weekdays and at weekends. It helps if you can point us to a visitor permit or a nearby bay, and to clear a path to the loft hatch. A back bedroom window can be the best vantage point for a rear addition, so we may ask to use one.

  1. First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
  4. Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
  5. You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Show us where any leaks or stains appear
  • Let us know about parking near the property
  • Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
