Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Longlands

Our price is from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where it applies, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. There’s a 12-month follow-up as well. If a drone won’t help on your roof, we’ll say so. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. We survey chimney stacks, large and complex roofs and fragile roofs, and people most frequently book us about blocked valleys and parapet gutters and slipped or missing slates on a high roof.

In London’s terraces and conversions, roofs are packed close together, so privacy and neighbours matter as much as the view. Images are taken to show the roof we are surveying, with care for neighbours’ privacy. Mention access, height and anything unusual about the building when booking. The extra view helps most on steep slopes, tall stacks and rear additions.

If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. That way, it’s clear what was covered and what wasn’t.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.

Drones, thermal imaging and Longlands roofs

Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight. Outer London has lots of Victorian and Edwardian terraces with slate roofs, but also a great many interwar semis, frequently with hipped roofs in clay or concrete tiles. Hips, bay roofs and later loft conversions are typical of those semis, if your home is one of them. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.

If you look after a building such as Longlands Primary School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. If you run a business near Broadway Shopping Centre, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it. With Eltham Palace about 2 miles north-west, the area around Longlands has a long history. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey from above or with a thermal imager doesn’t touch the roof itself.

How we price drone roof surveys

All our prices include VAT. The things that change the price are:

  • Basic, Standard or Premium
  • The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
  • The shape of the roof and its details
  • Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed

A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package matters as well. The price is always agreed first.

Helping us price your survey

Getting the details right at the start saves time. It helps to include:

  • The property’s address and postcode
  • The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat
  • Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside

Every survey is priced before it is booked, so you know the cost up front. Our price is from £400, including VAT. For a price for your roof, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

Useful tips for Longlands property owners

Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Some tips:

  • Share the postcode so we can check for restrictions
  • Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
  • Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
  • Shut pets inside while we fly

The Premium Survey report comes the same day. It includes the drone photos where a flight was possible.

Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Regular photos make changes easy to spot, and early repairs keep water out.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Longlands

Will parking be an issue for a roof survey in Longlands?

Typically it is manageable with a little notice. Let us know what parking is available nearby, and the visit is planned around it.

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Longlands?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Do you need to get into the loft?

If there is a loft and safe access to it, yes. From inside, the underside of the roof frequently shows damp, staining or daylight that cannot be seen from outside.

Do you climb onto every roof?

Only where it’s safe to do so. We inspect whatever is safely visible: from the ground, from windows, from inside the loft space, from the roof where it is safe and by drone where applicable. Anything we cannot see is noted in the report.

How soon will I get the report?

It depends on the package: the Basic Survey report arrives within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey the same day. Reports are sent by email.

I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?

Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning. Mention it when you contact us and we will plan the survey around it.

What does a roof survey cost?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Our three packages are Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, including VAT.

Rented homes, blocks and businesses

Any of our surveys can be booked by landlords, agents and building managers in Longlands. For a price for a let property or a block, call 07833 053749 or email us.

Letting agents can arrange access with tenants. We survey on weekdays and at weekends, which helps when tenants work during the week.

How it works

We look at the roof from outside and, where it’s relevant and there’s safe access, from inside the loft space too. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging. All in, the survey typically takes about one to two hours at a typical home, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. In converted houses and mansion blocks, the loft hatch is often on a shared landing. If that applies to your building, it helps to agree access with the neighbours or the managing agent first. Everything else is planned around the building, not the postcode.

  1. You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are looked at.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street
  • Keep pets in another room
  • Find any records of previous roof work
