Drone roof survey in Furzey Lodge: what you get

We carry out drone roof surveys in Furzey Lodge and across London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, call 07833 053749 or email us with the address. If you’ve noticed cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below and chimney tops in poor condition, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.

Somewhere as small as Furzey Lodge, older roofs are frequently steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned ahead of time. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, because a photo of a cracked flashing says more than a paragraph. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Furzey Lodge?

Walking on some roofs does more harm than good. Old slates and clay tiles crack underfoot, and fragile sheet roofs are dangerous to walk on. A drone lets us see them closely without touching them.

Signs worth acting on include:

  • Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
  • Lead work pulling away at abutments
  • Cracked mortar along the ridge
  • Vegetation in valleys and gutters

Take a building like Beaulieu Village Primary School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

What’s in a roof survey

Should I look at the roof myself first?

Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground.

Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Do not go up yourself.

Honest limits

It is a careful look at the roof, not the whole story. The main limits are:

  • Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
  • Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will tell you before booking. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Chimney stacks
  • Fragile roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Large and complex roofs

What happens if roof problems are left?

Small defects on a high roof grow with each storm. Spotting them early keeps the work smaller. Matching old materials, like handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. That’s one more reason to find defects before they become urgent.

Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so they’re priced to match. The price is confirmed before booking.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

We confirm the price for your survey before you book. These are the things that affect it:

  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
  • Basic, Standard or Premium

Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package you pick makes a difference too. We’ll give you the figure before anything is booked.

What to let us know when you get in touch

Before you get in touch, it is useful to have:

  • Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
  • Dates you’re working to, such as exchange
  • Whether there’s a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
  • Where the property is, with the postcode

We survey roofs on weekdays and at weekends. To arrange a day that suits you, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address and the days you’d prefer.

FAQs for Furzey Lodge

Do you cover smaller places like Furzey Lodge?

Yes, we do. Our area covers London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Furzey Lodge?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

Is this a RICS survey?

No. Our survey looks at the roof, not the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you will need a RICS survey as well.

How much is a survey?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. You’ll know the price for your roof before booking. To get a price, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

We survey seven days a week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Let us know which days suit you when booking.

How experienced are you?

We have more than 20 years’ experience and have completed over 5,000 surveys.

What about my neighbours’ privacy?

We point the camera at your roof only. Next door’s windows and gardens are kept out of shot as far as possible, and flights are kept short. It helps to tell neighbours beforehand.

How it works

The visit normally starts outside and finishes in the loft: outside views come first, then the roof space if there’s safe access. In total, it takes an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Rural addresses near Furzey Lodge can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.

  1. We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
  2. A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
  3. The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
  4. Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
  5. Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
  • Tell us about parking before the day
  • Point out any leaks or damp patches
