Independent drone roof surveys in Grange

About our drone roof survey in Grange

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where it applies, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. If a drone won’t help on your roof, we will say so. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photographs. We survey large and complex roofs, fragile roofs and chimney stacks, and common reasons people get in touch are coverings that have slipped high up on the roof and blocked valleys and parapet gutters.

Somewhere as small as Grange, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

How the survey changes by roof type

Ridges and hips

Loose ridge pieces can be lifted in a storm. Finding them early keeps them from coming down.

Valleys and parapet gutters

Valleys and parapet gutters are hidden from the street. A drone shows linings, joints and build-ups of debris.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Grange

Will you come out to Grange?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there as you book.

Is drone flying allowed in Grange?

Usually it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

Surveys run on weekdays and at weekends. To find a day that suits you, phone 07833 053749 or email us.

Can you survey in bad weather?

A survey can normally go ahead in light rain. Strong wind or heavy rain can stop drone flights and make roof access unsafe, so if conditions are not right we’ll arrange another day with you.

How much is a survey?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Our three packages are Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, inc. VAT.

How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Grange?

It’s easiest to phone 07833 053749 or email us. Give us the address and some details about the roof. Surveys run on weekdays and at weekends.

What happens after the survey?

You will get the report by email, with photographs and clear recommendations. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.

Common roof problems in Grange

Parapet gutters, box gutters and central valleys sit out of sight. Debris collects where nobody looks, until water overflows inside. From above, they’re easy to see.

People normally book a survey after spotting one of these:

  • Lifted or split lead flashings
  • Cracked mortar along the ridge
  • Vegetation in valleys and gutters
  • Hidden gutters full of leaves

With Restoration House about 3.3 miles west, the area around Grange has a long history. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey from above or with a thermal imager does not touch the roof itself.

What to check before booking

  • Their insurance cover
  • Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
  • What experience they bring
  • What’s outside the scope of the survey

What’s in a roof survey

Should I look at the roof myself first?

If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That part is for a survey.

Flying and imaging in Grange

Grange is within about 1 mile of the coast, and wind near the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.

For an older house near a landmark like Church of St Mary Magdalen, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help. If you run a business near Pentagon Shopping Centre, thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof.

Grange is about 1 mile north of Gillingham, in Medway. Houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings in Grange can all book drone roof surveys. Grange is one of the towns and villages in Medway where we work for drone roof surveys. We also survey roofs in Maidstone.

Surveys in ME7 and ME8 work the same way as everywhere else we cover. You’ll find streets like Grange Road, Lower Featherby Road and Odo Rise. Neighbouring places we cover for drone roof surveys include Lower Twydall (1 mile south-east), Twydall (1 mile south), Gillingham (1 mile south), Darland (2 miles south-west) and Hale (2 miles south-west). Larger places within reach include Chatham (3 miles south-west), Rochester (4 miles west), Strood (4 miles west), Park Wood (3 miles south), Lordswood (4 miles south-west) and Hoo St Werburgh (3 miles north).

Around Grange

We work in homes and buildings around The Robert Napier School, Our Lady of Gillingham Church and Riverside Country Park, among other places. Other local landmarks include The Hastings Arms (within half a mile north-west) and The Robert Napier School (1.1 miles south-west). The nearest railway station is Gillingham (Kent) station, roughly 1.3 miles west. Other landmarks nearby include Huguenot Museum (3.3 miles west) and Pentagon Shopping Centre (2.4 miles west). Not far away are Bishop Saltings.

What this survey cannot tell you

A survey is a careful look at the roof, but it cannot do everything. Its limits include:

  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying

If you are not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

What we look at

  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Chimney stacks
  • Valleys and parapet gutters

How the survey works

You do not need to do much on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, such as stains, drips or loose pieces, and we will get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Older roofs in small places like Grange can have low, tight loft spaces, so it helps to know whether there is a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. We only go where it’s safe.

  1. First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
  4. We also look inside the roof space where it is safe.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

Tips from our surveys

Small things make a difference. Some pointers:

  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
  • Move stored items away from the hatch
  • Allow for a change of day in poor weather
  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof

Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It helps you see how the roof has changed over the year, and whether work has done its job.

Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. A drone sees the outside, but the loft shows leaks and condensation from below. Photograph anything new.
