Drone roof surveys in Haverstock

What we look for on each type of roof

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Felt frequently lasts around 15 to 20 years, EPDM rubber around 30 to 50 and GRP up to about 30. Photos show how the covering is wearing.

Large commercial roofs

Fragile roof sheets and roof lights can be dangerous to walk on. With a drone, nobody has to go near them.

Drone roof survey in Haverstock: what you get

The weather decides whether a drone can fly. Strong wind or heavy rain rules out a flight, because control and safety come first. If the day turns out unsuitable, we’ll talk about another date. We check the forecast before the visit and again on site. Light wind and dry weather give the clearest close-up photos. Waiting for a better day is better than a rushed flight. If you’re worried about lead work pulling away at abutments and ridge and hip pieces working loose, we can find out what’s behind it.

London roofs sit shoulder to shoulder in terraces and blocks, which makes care around neighbours part of the job. We take care to focus on the roof we have been asked to look at. Mention access, height and anything unusual about the building as you book. The extra view helps most on steep slopes, tall stacks and rear additions.

Most points in the report come with a picture, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

Haverstock questions

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Haverstock?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.

Is my home in Haverstock listed or in a conservation area?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

Is Haverstock in your area?

Yes. We cover Haverstock and the rest of Greater London, as part of our work across London and the South East. To book, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but confirming it is a job for a specialist asbestos surveyor. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.

What does a roof survey cost?

Prices start from £400, including VAT. We confirm the exact price before you book, based on the roof’s size, access and package. For a price, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

Does the report include photos?

Yes. Photos are part of every report.

Can you survey at the weekend?

Visits run seven days a week in the daytime. Let us know your preferred days as you book.

How the survey works

We photograph the roof as we go, so the report shows exactly what we saw. We take close-ups from wherever is safe, including by drone where it is applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. In a London conversion, the way into the loft space is frequently from a communal landing or the top flat. If that applies to your building, it helps to agree access with the neighbours or the managing agent first. Everything else is planned around the building, not the postcode.

  1. We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we’re surveying.
  4. Where there’s safe access, we check the loft as well.
  5. Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.

Advice

For landlords and managing agents

For a freeholder or residents’ company, a roof report is a sound basis for a maintenance plan, putting the urgent items at the top.

Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work around your tenants.

When to book a survey in Haverstock

Chimney tops take the worst of the weather. Cracked flaunching, loose pots and eroded pointing are frequently invisible from below. A drone gets close enough to see them in detail.

A survey can pick up problems such as:

  • Standing water on a flat roof
  • Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
  • Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
  • Worn lead at chimneys and walls

The streets around a church such as Church of St Mary the Virgin are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What experience they bring
  • What the survey won’t cover
  • Will the report include photos?
  • Whether the inside of the roof is included

What a roof survey includes

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

We confirm the exact price before you book. This is what makes a difference:

  • Roof area
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office

To find out what your survey will cost, phone 07833 053749 or email us and tell us about the roof. We will confirm the figure before booking.

Helping us price your survey

We’ll usually ask about:

  • Dates you are working to, such as exchange
  • Photos of the roof, taken safely from ground level or a window
  • Where water is showing inside, if it is
  • The address and postcode of the property

Getting a price is simple: just ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and give us some details about the property and we will explain which survey suits. We confirm the price before anything is booked.

Drone roof surveys in Haverstock: local notes

Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Within a mile and a half or so of Haverstock there are several hotels, and like offices and blocks, hotels often sit under flat roofs. If you look after one, a large roof can be surveyed without guests having anyone working above them.

Hotels and guest houses near Haverstock cannot easily close rooms for a leak, so it’s worth knowing the roof’s condition. For businesses in and around places such as O2 Centre, thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof.
