Drone roof survey in Belsize Park
Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. We keep it in sight throughout, and within the 120-metre limit that applies to all drones in the open category. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Airspace and weather are checked before every flight. We never fly where it isn’t safe. If you’ve noticed moss building up on slopes and in gutters and hidden gutters full of leaves, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.
Flying in London takes more checking than most places: there are flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Before a drone goes up in Belsize Park, the address is checked against all of them, and where permission is needed, the flight waits for it.
What you get is a clear record of the roof on the day we saw it. That makes it useful now and a handy reference later, for instance when you want to check whether anything has changed.

Airspace, weather and Belsize Park roofs
With Keats House about 0.8 miles north, Belsize Park sits in an area with a long building history. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.
Belsize Park is in London, so parking needs planning: a visitor permit or a nearby bay makes the day easier. If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Church of St Mary the Virgin, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help. A roof leak in a hotel or guest house around Belsize Park means lost rooms as well as repairs.

What a survey costs
To price your survey, we check:
- Which survey package you book
- Roof area
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, all with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you need to know.
Getting in touch
Getting the details right at the start saves time. It is useful to include:
- Any deadline, like an exchange date
- The kind of building and roof involved
- Whether there is a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
- The address and postcode of the property
Surveys can be booked for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. To find a date that works for you, ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address and the days you’d prefer.
Different roofs, different checks
Steep slate and tile slopes
Old slates and clay tiles can crack underfoot. The drone sees them without touching them.
Large commercial roofs
Fragile roof sheets and roof lights can be dangerous to walk on. A drone keeps everyone off them.
Belsize Park questions
Will parking be an issue for a roof survey in Belsize Park?
Parking in Belsize Park, as in most of London, takes a little planning: a visitor permit or a nearby bay makes the day run more smoothly.
Is drone flying allowed in Belsize Park?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. We do not carry out asbestos surveys or testing. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings.
Do you work in Belsize Park?
Yes. We cover Belsize Park and the rest of Greater London, as part of our work across London and South East England. To book, phone 07833 053749 or email us.
How do I book a survey in Belsize Park?
To book, ring 07833 053749 or email us and tell us the address and what you’d like to know. We will confirm the price and agree a day with you.
Does the weather affect the survey?
Light rain doesn’t usually stop a survey, and it can even help show where water is getting in. Heavy rain or strong wind can ground a drone and make the roof unsafe, so if conditions aren’t right we’ll arrange another day with you.
Will you walk on the roof?
Only if it’s safe. We check everything that can safely be seen: from ground level, from windows, from inside the roof space, from the roof where it is safe and by drone where it applies. Anything we can’t see is noted in the report.
Why get it checked now?
Leaving a slipped slate or a blocked valley can turn a small fault into a leak. Spotting them early keeps the work smaller, whatever height the roof is. A hidden valley or parapet gutter on a London house can hold water for weeks before anyone notices. By the time a ceiling stains, the timbers underneath may have been wet for a while.
Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all including VAT. Size, height and access can affect the price too.

How the survey works
A survey visit follows a simple order: we hear what you’ve seen, inspect the roof from every safe vantage point, photograph what we find and make notes for the report. It usually takes an hour or two on an ordinary house, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. For a visit in Belsize Park, parking and access are the things to plan: let us know about parking, the floor the property is on, any shared entrance and loft access. We then look at everything that’s safely in view from the ground, windows, the loft and, where it is safe, the roof itself.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
Before the survey
- If you are buying, check with the agent that we can get in
- Let us know where we can park nearby
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey

A quick phone call is usually the easiest start: call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will ask a few questions about the roof. You’ll have a price before anything is arranged.

Useful tips for Belsize Park property owners
A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:
- Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
- Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
- Shut pets inside while we fly
- Tell us the exact address as you book
File the report and photos with your home documents. They’re a useful baseline for future surveys.
Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. A drone sees the outside, but the loft shows leaks and condensation from below. Photograph anything new.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Do not go up yourself.
