Drone roof survey in Laindon: what you get
Prices start from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where applicable, is also part of our Premium Survey, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. If a drone won’t help on your roof, we will say so. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. We survey large and complex roofs, chimney stacks and flat roofs on upper floors, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are wind damage high on the roof and plant growth and moss on the roof.
Places like Laindon can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so every drone flight starts with a check of the Drone Safety Map. Exposed sites can be windy, and a small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind, while thermal imaging also works best with little wind. Each flight is planned with neighbours’ privacy in mind, as well as the airspace and the wind.
Every survey ends with a written report, with photographs, emailed to you. It sets out the condition of the roof, any defects and our written recommendations.

Why act early in Laindon
From ground level, you are guessing about most of a tall roof. Close-up photos show what’s really there, slope by slope. Seeing the problem makes it easier to decide what to do. On a bungalow or cottage around Laindon, the roof sits close to the rooms below, so water can show inside quickly once it gets past the covering. Catching the cause first saves redecorating as well.
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The final price depends on the size and height of the roof, access and which survey you book.

What affects the price in Laindon
A few things affect what a survey costs:
- Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
Prices quoted always include VAT, and the written report is part of the package. Our price is from £400, including VAT. Size, height and access decide where your roof falls.
Helping us price your survey
You do not need to know any roofing terms. Just tell us:
- Any marks or damp showing indoors
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
- Access details, like a loft hatch or a shared roof
- Any deadline, such as an exchange date
If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Take them safely from ground level or a window. To send them or to book, call 07833 053749 or email us.
Laindon: your questions answered
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Laindon?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.
Do you cover smaller places like Laindon?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our area covers London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.
Do you hold CAA registration for the drone?
Yes. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. We fly a sub-250g drone and follow the drone code.
How fast do I get the report?
That depends on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. Reports are sent by email.
What does a roof survey cost?
Prices start from £400, including VAT. Our Basic Survey starts from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all inc. VAT.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. We are roof surveyors, not structural engineers. If we see signs that need an engineer’s opinion, we will recommend one.
Do drone rules differ in central London?
In some places, only with permission. Restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs need NATS permission before a flight. Every address is checked first.
What a drone roof survey does not cover
In fairness, there are limits to any roof survey:
- A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll suggest the right survey. What our survey covers.
What this survey covers

- Flat roofs on upper floors

- Fragile roofs
What a drone roof survey looks like in Laindon
Laindon is within about 5 miles of the coast, where wind off the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons.
Take a building like Merrylands Primary School: a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. The streets around a church like Church of St Nicholas are often among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for example near Eastgate Shopping Centre, large commercial roofs are often easiest to see by drone or thermal camera.

Tips that help
A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Tips:
- Keep dogs indoors during the visit
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
- Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
- Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
Keep the photos with your property records. They give you something to compare against later.
Plan a drone survey every few years for tall or large roofs. Regular photos make changes easy to spot, and early repairs keep water out.
Different roofs, different checks
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Leaks frequently start at outlets, edges and around plant. We photograph them closely.
Large commercial roofs
Fragile roof sheets and roof lights can be dangerous to walk on. With a drone, nobody has to go near them.

How it works
A survey visit follows a simple order: we hear what you’ve seen, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, take photos as we go and make notes for the report. It usually takes between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Some parts of a survey depend on the weather, so a visit to Laindon is booked with the forecast in mind: drone flights and thermal imaging need the right conditions, while a look from the ground and the loft can go ahead in most weather.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
- Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
Before the survey
- Leave side gates unlocked
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- Note where any stains or damp appear
