Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Oakthorpe Park
Before any flight, we check the airspace. Near protected airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, flight restriction zones mean permission is needed first. Parts of central London have restricted areas too, where NATS permission is needed. If we can’t fly, we use other safe vantage points instead and explain why. Prisons have their own drone restriction zones too. Common reasons to book are cracked mortar along the ridge and vegetation in valleys and gutters, across fragile roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and chimney stacks.
Flying in London takes more checking than most places: restriction zones surround Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs have restricted areas of their own. Before a drone goes up in Oakthorpe Park, the address is checked against all of them, and where permission is needed, the flight waits for it.
The report works through the roof section by section, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets, with a note and a photo for each point. You’ll see the good as well as the bad.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before you book. This is what makes a difference:
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
- The roof’s overall size
- Height and safe access
- The shape of the roof and its details
Every price we give includes VAT, and the report isn’t charged as an extra. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.
Getting in touch
If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:
- Whether there is a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
- What kind of property and roof it is
- The address and postcode of the property
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. For any other survey, just phone 07833 053749 or email us when you are ready.

What else we do in Oakthorpe Park
Drone roof surveys in Oakthorpe Park: local notes
We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times. Further from the centre, London’s housing takes in interwar semis with hipped roofs in clay or concrete tiles as well as slate-roofed terraces. Hips, bay roofs and later loft conversions are typical of those semis, if your home is one of them. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail.
Shop and office owners around The Mall Wood Green may find that a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it. The streets around a church such as St Michael-at-Bowes are often among the oldest in a place, and if you own one of the older houses nearby, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. Bruce Castle lies about 1.7 miles south-east, so building around Oakthorpe Park goes back a long way. A drone or thermal survey doesn’t involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings.
Oakthorpe Park is about 2 miles west of Edmonton, in Greater London. We carry out drone roof surveys in Oakthorpe Park for houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings. Our Greater London coverage includes Oakthorpe Park and the places around it. For surveys nearby, see our London page.
We work across N13, N22 and N11 for drone roof surveys. Local streets include Wolves Lane, Park Avenue and Russell Road, and we cover them all. Local landmarks in Oakthorpe Park
Locally, jobs take us to homes and businesses close to Broomfield Park, St Michael at Bowes CofE Junior School and St Thomas More Catholic School and the streets around them. The countryside around Oakthorpe Park includes Darland's Lake and Highgate Hill.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
Oakthorpe Park: your questions answered
Can parking be tricky for a visit in Oakthorpe Park?
London parking needs a little planning, so let us know about permits, bays or a driveway as you book. That way the visit can be planned around it.
How do I find out if my home in Oakthorpe Park is listed?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
How many surveys have you done?
Over 5,000 surveys so far, across 20+ years of surveying roofs, with 98% customer satisfaction.
Do you cover Oakthorpe Park for drone roof surveys?
Yes, we do. Oakthorpe Park is part of the area we cover.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. We don’t carry out asbestos surveys or testing. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them.
Does someone need to be in?
That depends on the survey. Inside the building and in the loft, we need someone to let us in, while outside access can be discussed as you book.
How soon will I get the report?
The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. All of them come by email.
Tips from our surveys
There is plenty you can do without going near the roof. Here’s what helps most:
- Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
- Book early if you’re near an airport
- Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
There’s a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit.
Plan a drone survey every few years for tall or large roofs. Comparing surveys shows what is wearing, so small faults are dealt with early.
For landlords and managing agents
If you own several properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To discuss a number of properties, phone 07833 053749 or email us.
Where a roof is shared: we need access agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Mention it when you contact us and we will plan the visit with that in mind.
How the survey changes by roof type
Chimney stacks
The drone shows the outside of the stack, not a flue, gas or sweep inspection. If the flue needs a specialist, we’ll tell you.
Valleys and parapet gutters
Blocked outlets in hidden gutters cause many leaks. We check outlets and photograph any build-up.
How the survey works
Before we start, let us know why you’ve booked: buying, a leak, storm damage, new work or just wanting to know where things stand. It helps us focus on what matters most to you. Most visits take about one to two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Surveys in Oakthorpe Park can be booked for any day of the week. London parking is often by permit or pay-and-display, so it helps to know what’s near you, and to clear a path to the loft hatch. A back bedroom window can be the best vantage point for a rear addition, so we may ask to use one.
- We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
- Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.
Before the survey
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it’s shared
- Point out any leaks or damp patches

Photos help, if you have them. Pictures from ground level or a window are fine, and please don’t climb up for a closer look. To get started, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email.
