Drone Roof Survey in Peckham
Drone roof surveys in Peckham, backed by more than 20 years’ experience. Every survey ends with a written report and photographs.
- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
- Vegetation in valleys and gutters
Common roof problems in Peckham
Not every roof can take a person’s weight. Old slates and clay tiles crack underfoot, and some sheet roofs are fragile. A drone lets us see them closely without touching them.
Most people get in touch when they’ve noticed one of these:
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
- Lead work pulling away at abutments
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
Shop and office owners around Surrey Quays Shopping Centre may find that a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- Whether you can ask questions once you have the report
- Whether the price includes VAT
- Whether the loft is part of the inspection
- Whether any drone flown is registered with the CAA
Drone roof survey in Peckham
Prices start from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where applicable, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We’ll tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photographs. We are frequently asked to look into flashings that have come away and standing water on a flat roof, on large and complex roofs, tall and steep roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.
Many London roofs are hidden from the pavement: valley gutters behind parapets, dormers and flat-roofed rear additions. That is where a view from the air or a thermal camera helps, by showing what cannot be reached safely. The weather decides the day: both drones and thermal cameras need the right conditions. What a thermal image shows is temperature, so anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter.
Every survey ends with a written report, with photos, emailed to you. It sets out the condition of the roof, any defects and our written recommendations.

What we do, step by step
The visit typically starts outside and finishes in the loft: outside views come first, then the roof space if there’s safe access. All told, expect between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. In converted houses and mansion blocks, the loft hatch is often on a shared landing. If that applies to your building, it is useful to agree access with the neighbours or the managing agent first. Everything else is planned around the building, not the postcode.
- We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
- Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
- You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Before the survey
- Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
- Let us know about parking near the property

Common questions in Peckham
Are there drone restrictions around Peckham?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Each address is checked against all of them before the drone goes up. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.
Is my home in Peckham listed or in a conservation area?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes. We photograph the roof as we go, and the report uses them to show each finding alongside our recommendations.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. We can flag materials that might contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Only where it is safe to do so. We inspect whatever is safely visible: from the ground, from windows, from inside the roof space, from the roof where it is safe and by drone where applicable. Anything we cannot see is noted in the report.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first, with the freeholder or managing agent. Mention it when you get in touch and we will plan the survey around it.
How experienced are you?
Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys, across London and South East England.
Why get it checked now?
Photographing a roof from the air doesn’t touch it. Nothing is cracked or dislodged by footsteps, so you see the roof exactly as it is. In Peckham, as in much of London, water from a roof defect can reach a neighbour’s home as easily as yours: failed flashings and blocked valley gutters can send water into more than one home. Dealing with it early is far less disruptive.
Prices start from £400, including VAT. The final price depends on the size and height of the roof, how it can be seen safely and the package you choose.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
Our packages start from £150, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on:

- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
We offer three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, with VAT included. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.
Booking your survey
What helps most when you contact us:

- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
- Any deadline, such as an exchange date
- Whether there’s a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. For any other survey, just ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email when you are ready.
Rented homes, blocks and businesses
For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. Recommendations are set out with the most urgent first where relevant.
A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work with less disruption.
