About our drone roof survey in Peppard Hill
Our price is from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where it applies, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There’s a 12-month follow-up as well. We’ll tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. We’re often asked to look into flat roofs on upper floors that hold water and outlets choked with leaves and silt, on flat roofs on upper floors, valleys and parapet gutters and fragile roofs.
Some older homes in villages like Peppard Hill are listed or in a conservation area. A look from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof, so it is a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof, before anyone decides what work it needs. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.
Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

How the survey works
Once we have finished looking, we write up our findings as a written report with photos, emailed to you. As for time on site, most surveys take between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Somewhere like Peppard Hill needs a little journey planning: let us know about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. The roof is looked at from ground level, from windows, from the loft where there’s safe access and from the roof where it is safe.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know where we can park nearby
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with the freeholder or managing agent
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
How to book
If you are buying, it helps to book soon after your offer is accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. Otherwise, simply ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form whenever suits you.

Common roof problems in Peppard Hill
Large roofs take a long time to see on foot. The drone covers the surface area by area. That gives a clearer picture of the roof as a whole.
Typical things we’re asked to look at include:
- Wind damage high on the roof
- Loose ridge and hip tiles
- Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
- Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
Take a building like Peppard Church of England Primary School: a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

How the survey changes by roof type
Valleys and parapet gutters
When a parapet outlet blocks, water can come inside. Outlets and any debris around them are photographed.
Chimney stacks
Chimney tops are hard to see from ground level. A drone gets close to the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings.
What a drone roof survey looks like in Peppard Hill
The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times. With Greys Court about 1.9 miles north-east, Peppard Hill sits in an area with a long building history. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs.
For an older house near a landmark such as The Church of Christ the King, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.

What you can safely check yourself
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That’s where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.
Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground.
Common questions in Peppard Hill
Are there drone restrictions around Peppard Hill?
Typically it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or a downpour also stops a small drone flying.
Is Peppard Hill within the area you cover?
Yes, Peppard Hill is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. We are roof surveyors, not structural engineers, and it does not include calculations. If we see signs that need an engineer’s opinion, we will recommend one.
Will you walk on the roof?
Only where it is safe to do so. We inspect what can safely be seen: from ground level, from windows and vantage points, from the loft space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where applicable. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.
How long will you be at the property?
Time on site depends on the roof; most visits take about one to two hours for most houses; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. The written report follows by email.
Do I need to be at home?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. Access is agreed with you as you book.
Do you need to get into the loft?
If there’s a loft and safe access to it, yes. The roof space can show things the outside can’t, like damp timbers, staining or daylight.
Useful tips for Peppard Hill property owners
Most of what helps is simple and safe from the ground. Our suggestions:
- Keep dogs indoors during the visit
- Tell us about any leaks or concerns
- Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
- Move stored items away from the hatch
The report gives any roofer you ask to quote a clear brief. They’ll see exactly where each defect is, so their quotes cover the same ground.
Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. The underside often shows problems before the outside does. Take photos of any changes.
When you need someone else
Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, and that sets some limits:
- A structural engineer’s report
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
