Drone Roof Survey in Highmoor Cross
Drone roof surveys in Highmoor Cross from an independent, experienced roof surveyor. More than 20 years and over 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
Before and after the survey
A little preparation and a few simple habits help, both for the survey and for the roof itself. Some pointers:
- Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
- Shut pets inside while we fly
- Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
- Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
The Premium Survey report comes the same day. Drone photographs are included where we could fly.
Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. A drone sees the outside, but the loft shows leaks and condensation from below. Photograph anything new.
About our drone roof survey in Highmoor Cross
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where applicable, is also part of our Premium Survey, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We’ll tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. Typical surveys look at ridge pieces that have lifted and hidden gutters full of leaves, on large and complex roofs, fragile roofs and tall and steep roofs.
Somewhere as small as Highmoor Cross, older roofs are frequently steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.
The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Highmoor Cross?
Big commercial and industrial roofs cover a lot of ground. A drone can photograph a large roof methodically, showing patterns of wear that are hard to spot up close. That gives a clearer picture of the roof as a whole.
Signs worth acting on include:
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
- Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below
- Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
- Loose ridge and hip tiles
The streets around a church like Church of St Paul are often among the oldest in a place, and if you own one of the older houses nearby, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Highmoor Cross?
We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.
Is drone flying allowed in Highmoor Cross?
Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

What else we do in Highmoor Cross
What we do, step by step
On the day, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that’s worrying you. After that, we look at everything we can see safely, using the ground, windows, the loft and a drone where applicable. Most surveys take about one to two hours for a house, and longer for a large or complex roof. Older roofs in small places like Highmoor Cross can have low, tight loft spaces, so it is useful to know whether there’s a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. We only go where it is safe.
- First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
- If you’re buying, let the agent know when we are coming
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
Arrange a survey
If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Pictures from the ground or a window are fine, and please don’t climb up for a closer look. To get started, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Related advice
Should I look at the roof myself first?
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from the ground or a window. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover
We only report whatever is safely visible on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- A structural engineer’s report
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will tell you before you book. The full list of what we check.
Roofs we survey in Highmoor Cross
- Fragile roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Large and complex roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Valleys and parapet gutters
How the survey changes by roof type
Chimney stacks
Chimney tops are hard to see from ground level. A drone gets close to the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings.
Steep slate and tile slopes
Steep roofs are risky to walk on. A drone photographs them closely from a safe position.
