Independent drone roof surveys in Purbrook

What we do, step by step

The visit normally starts outside and finishes in the loft: outside views come first, then the roof space if there’s safe access. In total, it takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Parking in a town like Purbrook is usually simple, but let us know if there’s a driveway or any restrictions. The inspection covers everything that’s safely in view from outside, from windows and from the loft space.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
  3. We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets in another room
  • Find any records of previous roof work
  • Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors

Advice

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Purbrook

Tall, steep, large or fragile roofs cannot always be inspected up close. A drone takes close-up photographs of those roofs from the air. You see slates, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters in detail. Everything we find goes into a photo-illustrated written report. It also suits roofs that would be damaged by someone walking on them. If we cannot fly, we tell you why. We survey flat roofs on upper floors, fragile roofs and valleys and parapet gutters, and the problems we are asked to look at most are worn lead at chimneys and walls and vegetation in valleys and gutters.

Older homes in a town like Purbrook may lose heat through roofs with little or no insulation. Thermal imaging can show where heat escapes, and it can also point to damp patches. What it shows is surface temperature, not water itself, so findings are checked with moisture readings, while drone photos show the outside of the same roof. Results depend on conditions, so the timing of the visit matters.

How fast the report arrives depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Honest limits

Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:

  • A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe
  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
  • A structural engineer’s report

If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will point you to the right survey. What a survey covers and does not.

What this survey covers

  • Large and complex roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Chimney stacks
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors

Different roofs, different checks

Chimney stacks

From the air, a lean or a loose pot is easy to see. Each defect is photographed for the report.

Ridges and hips

Loose ridge pieces can be lifted in a storm. Finding them early keeps them from coming down.

Airspace, weather and Purbrook roofs

Purbrook lies within about 2 miles of the sea, and wind near the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.

Warblington Castle lies about 3.3 miles south-east, so building around Purbrook goes back a long way. For older roofs nearby, a look by drone or thermal camera is a hands-off way to check condition. Take an older house close to Church of St John: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. Take a building like Purbrook Junior School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

Purbrook is about 2 miles west of Havant, in Hampshire. Roofs in Purbrook get the same thorough look as anywhere else in Hampshire. Our Hampshire coverage includes Purbrook and the places around it.

Drone roof surveys in PO7 and PO6 are booked the same way as anywhere else. If you need a drone roof survey at a property on London Road, Bliss Close and Delius Walk or a nearby road, we can survey it. Other places close to Purbrook include Purbrook Heath (1 mile west), Widley (1 mile south-west), Waterlooville (1 mile north), Farlington (2 miles south) and Bedhampton (2 miles south-east). Within a short drive, we also cover Gosport (7 miles south-west), Eastleigh (15 miles north-west), Fareham (7 miles west), Horndean (3 miles north), Hedge End (12 miles west) and Petersfield (10 miles north-east).

Local landmarks in Purbrook

We work in homes and buildings around The Denmead Queen pub and Crookhorn College. The closest station to Purbrook is Bedhampton station, roughly 1.9 miles south-east of the centre. Nearby you will also find Warblington Castle (3.3 miles south-east) and World War I Remembrance Centre (2.7 miles south). Green spaces nearby include Southmoor Nature Reserve and Portsdown Hill.

Common questions in Purbrook

How do I find out if my home in Purbrook is listed?

Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.

Do you carry out roof surveys in Purbrook?

Yes, Purbrook is one of the places we work. Every survey there gets the same written report with photographs.

Do drone rules differ in central London?

In some places, only with permission. Restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs need NATS permission before a flight. Every address is checked first.

What if it’s windy or raining on the day?

Bad weather means no flight. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, so we’d move the date with you.

How long does the visit take?

Typically, it takes between one and two hours at a typical home, and longer for a large or complex roof. That includes checking the site and the weather before take-off.

What do I do with the report?

You will get the report by email, with photos and clear recommendations. With Standard there is a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.

Is a drone roof survey a thermal survey?

The drone survey is a photographic inspection. Thermal imaging is a separate check, included in our Premium Survey.

What you can safely check yourself

A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.

Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.

What a survey costs

Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before you book. These are the things that affect it:

  • Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
  • The size of the roof
  • Basic, Standard or Premium

The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where it applies, which starts from £400, with VAT included. We’ll tell you which package suits the questions you have.

What to tell us when you contact us

Getting the details right at the start saves time. Please include:

  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
  • Dates you’re working to, such as exchange
  • What made you get in touch
  • What kind of property and roof it is

Surveys can be booked for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. To find a date that works for you, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and the days you’d prefer.

For landlords and managing agents

Managing agents and residents’ management companies use roof surveys to plan maintenance. The report sets out what needs attention now and what can wait, which helps when budgeting.

Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey shows what needs attention, so you can plan the work.
