Drone roof surveys near Raynes Park

Drone roof survey in Raynes Park: what you get

Our drone weighs under 250g, and we are a CAA-registered drone operator, with a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. It stays within sight for the whole flight, and within the 120-metre limit that applies to all drones in the open category. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Airspace and weather are checked before every flight. We never fly where it is not safe. Typical surveys look at storm damage on steep or tall roofs and plant growth and moss on the roof, across chimney stacks, fragile roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.

London airspace is busy and tightly controlled: restriction zones surround Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs have restricted areas of their own. Every address in Raynes Park is checked before any drone flight, and where permission is needed, the flight waits for it.

Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, because a photo of a cracked flashing says more than a paragraph. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

What happens if roof problems are left?

It’s hard to plan maintenance for a roof nobody has looked at. Our report shows the condition of each area, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant. You can tackle the urgent items first. London’s older roofs often have bitumen felt underlay or none at all, so a slipped slate can soon mean water inside. Left unchecked, water soaks into timber and plaster and the damage spreads.

Our price is from £400, including VAT. Packages run from Basic at £150 through Standard at £250 to Premium at £400, including VAT, and we can help you choose.

Why us?

  • Over 20 years’ experience
  • An independent view of the roof
  • Surveys seven days a week
  • Insured for professional indemnity and public liability

Honest limits

Every survey has limits, and we’d rather be clear about that before booking. Bear these in mind:

  • A structural engineer’s report
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will recommend the right survey before you book. What our survey covers.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Large and complex roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors

Flying and imaging in Raynes Park

Southside House, about 0.9 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Raynes Park. On older houses around here, roofs often carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight.

For businesses in and around places such as Bentall Centre, big, flat commercial roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help most. If you live in an older home near St Saviour's Church, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that is where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps. Take a building like West Wimbledon Primary School: thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Raynes Park is about 2 miles south-west of Wimbledon, in Greater London. Raynes Park gets the same service as everywhere else we work: a careful inspection, photos and a written report. Our Greater London coverage includes Raynes Park and the places around it. There’s also a page for London.

We survey roofs across the SW20, KT3 and SM4 postcode area for drone roof surveys and the streets around it. You will find streets such as Gore Road, Edna Road and Wyke Road. Raynes Park is on the A238 and A298, which makes it straightforward to reach. Other places close to Raynes Park include West Barnes (1 mile south-west), Bushey Mead (1 mile north-east), Cannon Hill (1 mile east), Motspur Park (1 mile north-west) and Wimbledon Chase (1 mile north-east). We also work in nearby towns like London (9 miles north-east), City of Westminster (8 miles north-east), Marylebone (9 miles north-east), Kensington (7 miles north), St Pancras (10 miles north-east) and Shoreditch (11 miles north-east).

Tips from our surveys

Small things make a difference, both for the survey and for the roof itself. Our tips:

  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit
  • Expect us to rearrange if it’s too windy or wet
  • Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace

There is a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It helps you see how the roof has changed over the year, and whether work has done its job.

Every so frequently, look in the loft space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. The underside frequently shows problems before the outside does. Take photos of any changes.

FAQs for Raynes Park

How do I find out if my home in Raynes Park is listed?

For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.

Are there drone restrictions around Raynes Park?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Each address is checked against all of them before the drone goes up. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.

How much is a survey?

Prices start from £400, including VAT. Our Basic Survey starts from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all including VAT.

Does the weather affect the survey?

It can, depending on the survey. Drone flights need calm, dry weather, and thermal imaging works best with a dry roof, little wind and a sunny day beforehand. We’ll rearrange with you if the weather is not right.

When does the report arrive?

Report times are set by the package. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. If you have a deadline, such as an exchange date, tell us when you book.

How experienced are you?

We have been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have completed over 5,000 surveys.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. To find a day that suits you, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

What we do, step by step

Where it is relevant and can be reached safely, the roof space is checked as well as the outside. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging, as far as the space allows. The whole visit typically takes about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. London terraces rarely offer a view of the whole roof from one spot, so in Raynes Park we work round the house, using the street, the windows, the loft and any safe vantage point behind it. If other people live in the building, let us know who can let us into the shared parts.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.

Before we arrive

  • Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
  • If you are buying, let the agent know when we are coming
  • Show us where any leaks or stains appear

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

  • The roof’s overall size
  • House, block, shop or office
  • Which survey package you book

One thing that affects the price is the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
