Independent drone roof surveys in Redbridge

Drone roof survey in Redbridge: what you get

Neighbours’ privacy matters on every flight. We keep the camera on the roof we’re surveying, not on gardens or windows next door. If your roof is joined to a neighbour’s, it is worth letting them know about the visit. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Each flight is kept short and stays focused on the roof we are there to survey. Common reasons to book are blocked valleys and parapet gutters and slates or tiles shifted by high winds, across valleys and parapet gutters, chimney stacks and large and complex roofs.

In a village or hamlet like Redbridge, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from ground level. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

You receive the findings by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

Checking the roof from the ground

Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.

Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Send it with your enquiry, as it helps us focus the survey.

How the survey works

We do not take risks to get a closer look. We inspect everything that’s safely in view, and anything we can’t see is noted in the report. The survey normally takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Somewhere as small as Redbridge, access is often the only tricky part. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
  3. We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.

Before the survey

  • If you’re buying, check with the agent that we can get in
  • Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
  • Leave side gates unlocked

Advice

Redbridge questions

Is drone flying allowed in Redbridge?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Redbridge?

For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.

Do you work in Redbridge?

Yes, we do. We carry out drone roof surveys in Redbridge.

Are you insured?

Professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover our surveys. If you need details for a managing agent or a building owner, just ask.

What happens next?

You will receive the report by email, and what you do next is up to you: use it with a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent.

Do you look in the loft space?

Yes, where the survey calls for it and there’s safe access. Inside, we look for damp, staining, gaps and sagging, as far as the space allows.

Will you walk on the roof?

Only if it is safe. We inspect everything that’s safely in view: from ground level, from windows and vantage points, from the loft space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where it applies. Anything we cannot see is noted in the report.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Redbridge?

Parapet gutters, box gutters and central valleys sit out of sight. Leaves, silt and plant growth build up unseen, until water overflows inside. A drone shows them clearly from above.

Here are some of the things we see often:

  • Standing water on a flat roof
  • Wind damage high on the roof
  • Loose ridge and hip tiles
  • Lifted or split lead flashings

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Oasis Academy Pinewood, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

What to check before booking

  • Whether the loft is part of the inspection
  • Is there a chance to talk the report through?
  • Will the report include photos?
  • What’s outside the scope of the survey

What’s in a roof survey

What a drone roof survey looks like in Redbridge

Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

Hare Hall, about 3.4 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Redbridge. A drone or thermal survey does not involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings. If you run a business near Romford Shopping Hall, thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof.

Leave it or get it looked at?

It is hard to plan maintenance for a roof nobody has looked at. Our report shows the condition of each area, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant. You can tackle the urgent items first. Older and listed buildings around Redbridge may need consent and matching materials for repairs, so leaving a defect until it’s urgent leaves less time to plan.

Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so the price reflects that. The price is confirmed before you book.

Before booking, it is worth knowing what a survey will not do:

  • A flight where airspace permission is refused
  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
  • Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll suggest the right survey before booking. What a survey covers and does not.

Roofs we survey in Redbridge

  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks

Different roofs, different checks

Steep slate and tile slopes

On slate roofs, slipped slates often point to corroded nails. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.

Ridges and hips

Loose ridge pieces can be lifted in a storm. Finding them early keeps them from coming down.
