Drone roof surveys in South Fambridge

Drone roof survey in South Fambridge

We carry out drone roof surveys in South Fambridge and across London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address. If you are worried about slates or tiles shifted by high winds and eroded pointing on a chimney stack, we can find out what’s behind it, on flat roofs on upper floors, chimney stacks and tall and steep roofs alike.

Some older homes in villages like South Fambridge are listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care, before anyone decides what work it needs. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.

Nothing in the report is left vague: where something needs attention, it says so plainly.

Drone roof surveys in South Fambridge: local notes

Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.

If you look after a building such as Greensward Academy, big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in South Fambridge

Does a conservation area affect roof work in South Fambridge?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

Can you fly a drone over a roof in South Fambridge?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.

Do you climb onto every roof?

Only if it is safe. We look at everything that can safely be seen: from ground level, from windows and vantage points, from the roof space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where applicable. Anything we can’t see is noted in the report.

What happens next?

You receive the written report by email, with photos and recommendations. It is yours to share with a seller, insurer, roofer or managing agent, whichever applies.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. To arrange a date, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

What’s in the report?

You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos, and ends with what we recommend. The most urgent items are made clear.

Do you need to get into the loft?

If there is a loft and safe access to it, yes. The roof space can show things the outside cannot, like damp timbers, staining or daylight.

How it works

You do not need to do much on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we’ll get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes about one to two hours at most homes; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. For a village or hamlet like South Fambridge, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. On the day, we inspect whatever is safely visible, inside and out.

  1. We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
  2. A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
  3. The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
  4. If the loft can be reached safely, it’s checked too.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

Getting ready for the survey

  • Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
  • If it isn’t your property yet, arrange access through the agent
  • Show us where any leaks or stains appear

Advice

When to book a survey in South Fambridge

The top of a stack is the most exposed part of many roofs. Cracked flaunching, loose pots and eroded pointing are frequently invisible from below. Close-up drone photos show their condition.

Here are some of the things we see often:

  • Outlets choked with leaves and silt
  • Loose ridge and hip tiles
  • Lead work pulling away at abutments
  • Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots

If your house is among the older ones in the streets near All Saints, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Before booking anyone

  • Whether you can ask questions once you have the report
  • What the survey will not cover
  • Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?

What a roof survey includes

Should I look at the roof myself first?

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That part is for a survey.

Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Don’t go up yourself.

What this survey can’t tell you

This is not a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:

  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads
  • A flight on a day when the weather is not safe

If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer. What a survey covers and does not.
