FAQs for St George's Fields
Will parking be an issue for a roof survey in St George's Fields?
London parking needs a little planning, so let us know about permits, bays or a driveway as you book. That way the visit can be planned around it.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in St George's Fields?
Typically it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. The flight restriction zone around London Heliport in Battersea comes within about 2 miles of St George's Fields. We check the exact boundary for the address before flying, and if the roof falls inside it, we ask for permission first. St George's Fields is about 2 miles from the restricted area over the City of London, where drone flights need permission from NATS. We check whether the address falls inside it, and if it does we apply for permission, which isn’t always given. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. Strong wind or a downpour also stops a small drone flying.
How long will you be at the property?
Expect it to take about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. The written report follows by email, on the timescale of your package.
How do I book a survey in St George's Fields?
Simply phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day.
Will you walk on the roof?
Only if it is safe. We inspect whatever is safely visible: from ground level, from windows and vantage points, from the loft space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where applicable. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.
Are you structural engineers?
No. We are roof surveyors, not structural engineers, and it doesn’t include calculations. If we see signs that need an engineer’s opinion, we’ll recommend one.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day. Let us know your preferred days as you book.
Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in St George's Fields
They suit tall buildings, steep or large roofs and roofs that are hard to see from ground level. They also suit fragile roofs that nobody should walk on, like old slate, clay tiles or cement sheets. You get close-up views without anyone setting foot on the roof. We check the airspace for your address ahead of the visit. We’ll tell you if another approach would work better. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, large and complex roofs and flat roofs on upper floors, and common reasons people get in touch are blocked valleys and parapet gutters and ridge and hip pieces working loose.
London airspace is busy and tightly controlled: restriction zones surround Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs have restricted areas of their own. Before a drone goes up in St George's Fields, the address is checked against all of them, and where permission is needed, the flight waits for it.
Report times depend on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

How we price drone roof surveys
Several things affect the price of a survey:
- Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package you pick makes a difference too. We will give you the figure before anything is booked.
Booking your survey
You do not need to know any roofing terms. It is enough to tell us:
- Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
- Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
- When you need the report by
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
You can call us seven days a week. To book or ask a question, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
What happens on the day
Once we have finished looking, we write up our findings as a written report with photographs, emailed to you. On timing, most surveys take between one and two hours on an ordinary house, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. From the street, a London terrace typically shows only its front slope or parapet, so in St George's Fields we work round the house, using the street, the windows, the loft and any safe vantage point behind it. Shared stairs or a basement flat? Tell us who holds the keys.
- You give us the address and let us know about the roof.
- Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
- On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.

- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Tips from our surveys
You do not need to be a roofer to help. What helps most:
- Move stored items away from the hatch
- Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
- Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
- Shut pets inside while we fly
You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to talk through the photographs and findings. It is a chance to ask about anything in the report.
Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Comparing surveys shows what is wearing, and early repairs keep water out.
Rented homes, blocks and businesses
With a portfolio of properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To discuss a number of properties, call 07833 053749 or email us with the addresses.
For a freeholder or residents’ company, a roof report is a sound basis for a maintenance plan, with the most urgent items set out first.
Drones, thermal imaging and St George's Fields roofs

Hotels and guest houses near St George's Fields cannot easily close rooms for a leak. With Benjamin Franklin House about 1.1 miles north-west, the area around St George's Fields has a long history. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof itself. The streets around a church such as Former Church of St Jude are often among the oldest in a place, and if your house is among the older ones nearby, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help.

What you can safely check yourself
It is useful to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when you book and it will help the survey.
What you can’t do safely is get up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and falls from height are serious. That is where a survey comes in.
