Drone Roof Survey in Stockbridge
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach across Stockbridge, with drones and thermal imaging where they help. Call or email for a price.
- Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
What happens on the day
The aim of the visit is simple: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. It usually takes an hour or two for a house, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. Around Stockbridge, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so let us know about the loft hatch and any ladder. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Let us know about parking near the property
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Stockbridge
From the air, the outer surfaces are clear, but it cannot see under the coverings or into the loft. We check the loft from inside where it’s safe, since that’s where leaks and condensation often show first. Together, the two give a fuller picture. Your report shows the drone photos alongside what we saw in the loft. Where the loft can’t be reached safely, we note it. We survey large and complex roofs, chimney stacks and valleys and parapet gutters, and common reasons people get in touch are wind damage high on the roof and worn lead at chimneys and walls.
Somewhere as small as Stockbridge, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from ground level. Weather and airspace are looked at ahead of the visit, and the journey is planned ahead of time. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
The report doesn’t just list problems. It explains what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, so you can plan your next steps.

Roof by roof
Chimney stacks
Chimney tops are hard to see from ground level. Close-up photos show the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings, so cracks and gaps are clear.
Large commercial roofs
Big roofs on offices, warehouses and units take time to inspect. The drone covers the roof area by area.
What affects the price in Stockbridge
All our prices include VAT. The things that change the price are:
- The shape of the roof and its details
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
- The size of the roof
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
What we need to know
If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
- The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window
- When you need the report by

Useful tips for Stockbridge property owners
Nothing here needs a ladder. A few suggestions:
- Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
- Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
- Let us know the exact address as you book
Keep the photos with your property records. They give you something to compare against later, and they help if you sell.
Every so often, look in the roof space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. The underside often shows problems before the outside does. Photograph anything new.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from the ground or a window. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.
Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
What a drone roof survey does not cover
It’s a careful look at the roof, not the whole story. The main limits are:
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
If you’re not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking. What our survey covers.

Flying and imaging in Stockbridge
Before planning roof work on an older home, find out whether it’s listed or in a conservation area. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, and councils can also use Article 4 directions to control changes in conservation areas. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.
If you live in an older home near Church of St Peter, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Stockbridge Primary & Pre-School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. If you run a hotel or guest house in or near Stockbridge, a roof problem can mean rooms out of use, so it pays to find faults before guests do.

Questions from Stockbridge
How do I find out if my home in Stockbridge is listed?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.
Do you cover smaller places like Stockbridge?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our area covers London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Will you go up on the roof?
Only where it is safe to do so. We check everything that can safely be seen: from the ground, from windows and vantage points, from the roof space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where it applies. Anything we cannot see is noted in the report.
Do you hold CAA registration for the drone?
Yes. We hold both a CAA Flyer ID and an Operator ID. We use a sub-250g drone, flown within the rules for the open category.
How long does the visit take?
It usually takes an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. That includes the checks before the drone goes up.
What insurance do you have?
Professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover our surveys. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.
Can the drone do thermal imaging?
Our drone takes close-up photos of the roof. Thermal imaging is a separate check, and it’s part of the Premium Survey.
