Drone roof surveys in Tapnage

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Tapnage

Drone surveys suit tall houses, blocks of flats, steep roofs and large commercial roofs. They also suit fragile roofs that nobody should walk on, such as old slate, clay tiles or cement sheets. You get close-up views without anyone setting foot on the roof. We check the airspace for your address before the visit. We’ll tell you if another approach would work better. We are often asked to look into slates or tiles shifted by high winds and ridge and hip pieces working loose, on valleys and parapet gutters, large and complex roofs and chimney stacks.

Somewhere as small as Tapnage, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from ground level. Weather and airspace are looked at before the visit, and the journey is planned beforehand. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Drone roof surveys in Tapnage: local notes

Tapnage is within about 4 miles of the coast, and wind near the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain. A number of Hampshire villages keep thatched roofs on their older buildings. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Many roofs like these cannot be judged properly from the pavement, and that’s where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place.

Take a building like The Henry Cort Community College: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for example near Fareham Shopping Centre, thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof.

Tapnage is about 3 miles north of Fareham, in Hampshire. We cover Tapnage and the rest of Hampshire. Our area takes in places right across Hampshire. We also survey roofs in Southampton.

When you need someone else

Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, so a survey has limits:

  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • Close-up photos of next door’s property
  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll suggest the right survey. The full list of what we check.

FAQs for Tapnage

Are there drone restrictions around Tapnage?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Will you come out to Tapnage?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.

What’s the best way to book?

The quickest way is to ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email. Let us know the address and a little about the roof, and we will point you to the right survey. We survey on weekdays and at weekends.

No. We note visible signs such as sagging or deflection, but we don’t carry out calculations or give an engineer’s opinion. If we think you need an engineer, the report says so.

Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys, across London and South East England.

Do I need to be at home?

That depends on the survey. Inside the building and in the loft, we need someone to let us in.

How soon will I get the report?

That depends on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. Reports are sent by email.

Why act early in Tapnage

A drone survey disturbs nothing on the roof. Fragile slates and tiles stay as they are, so you see the roof exactly as it is. Older cottages and farmhouses around Tapnage can have roof timbers that have been there a very long time, where water from a failed roof can cause rot if it’s left.

Our price is from £400, including VAT. Packages run from Basic at £150 through Standard at £250 to Premium at £400, including VAT.

How it works

Before we start, tell us why you’ve booked: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. It helps us focus on what matters most to you. The visit usually takes about one to two hours for most houses, or half a day or so for a commercial building. Older rural homes like those around Tapnage can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely.

  1. We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we’re surveying.
  4. We also look inside the loft space where it is safe.
  5. You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.

Can I check my roof myself?

A lot can be seen from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.

After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, which helps when we look at the roof.
