Drone roof surveys near Turville

Different roofs, different checks

Large commercial roofs

Big roofs on offices, warehouses and units take time to inspect. The drone covers the roof area by area.

Steep slate and tile slopes

Widespread slipping on slate usually means nail fatigue. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.

Drone roof survey in Turville

Drones need reasonable weather. We do not fly in strong wind or heavy rain, because the drone has to stay safely under control. If the weather turns, we’ll agree another day or inspect what we can by other means. We check the forecast ahead of the visit and again on site. Calm, dry conditions give the sharpest close-up photos. A short delay is better than a rushed flight. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, tall and steep roofs and fragile roofs, and the problems we are asked to look at most are debris building up in hidden gutters and cracked mortar along the ridge.

Some older homes in villages like Turville are listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, so it’s a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof, before anyone decides what work it needs. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.

You can share the report with anyone who needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent.

Turville: your questions answered

Is Turville within the area you cover?

Yes, Turville is covered. Our area covers London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it’s useful to know about access.

Is my home in Turville listed or in a conservation area?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

How many surveys have you done?

More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years.

Can you give me structural calculations?

No. Our survey is not a structural engineer’s report, and it does not include calculations. If we see signs that need an engineer’s opinion, we’ll recommend one.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.

How much does a drone roof survey cost in Turville?

Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on its size, height, access and the package.

When does the report arrive?

Each package has its own report time. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. Mention any deadline as you book.

Airspace, weather and Turville roofs

Cotswold stone slates are found on older buildings in west Oxfordshire, and thatch survives in some of the county’s villages. Older houses in the South East often have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. Many roofs like these cannot be judged properly from the pavement, and that’s where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

Anyone responsible for a site like Ibstone CofE Primary School will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. Stonor Park, about 2 miles south-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Turville. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey from above or with a thermal imager does not touch the roof itself.

Turville is about 6 miles north-west of Marlow, in Oxfordshire. We carry out drone roof surveys in Turville for houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings, with a written report and photographs every time. Our area takes in places right across Oxfordshire, from the larger towns to small villages. For surveys nearby, see our Reading page.

We cover every part of RG9 for drone roof surveys and the streets around it. We offer drone roof surveys to properties on Holloway Lane and School Lane. What happens if roof problems are left?

Planning roof work without seeing the roof is a gamble. Our report shows the condition of each area, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant. You can tackle the urgent items first. Where a roof is exposed, as many are in small places like Turville, driving rain gets into any weakness, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

Prices quoted always include VAT, and the report isn’t charged as an extra. Prices start from £400, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.

Prices for drone roof surveys in Turville

Our packages start from £150, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on:

  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
  • House, block, shop or office
  • The number of roofs, including extensions and garages

Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, with VAT included. Size, height and access can affect the price too.

Getting in touch

If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:

  • Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
  • Dates you are working to, such as exchange
  • How the loft is reached, if there is one
  • Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors

Prices start from £400, including VAT. The exact figure depends on the roof and the package, so ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the details.

The survey, step by step

Where it’s relevant and can be reached safely, the loft space is checked as well as the outside. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging, as far as the space allows. All in, the survey normally takes between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Older roofs in small places like Turville can have low, tight loft spaces, so it is useful to know whether there is a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.

  1. First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
  2. We arrange any permission that is needed before we fly.
  3. On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
  4. We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
  • Keep pets in another room
  • Note where any stains or damp appear

Do you need a drone roof survey in Turville?

Height and steep pitches make close inspection risky. Tall townhouses, blocks of flats and offices are typical. A drone gets close-up views from a safe position on the ground.

A survey can pick up problems such as:

  • Flashings that have come away
  • Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
  • Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
  • Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings

The streets around a church such as Church of St Mary are often among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Before you book any roof surveyor

  • Whether VAT is in the quoted price
  • Their report turnaround times
  • Which viewpoints they use to see the roof
  • Will they check the loft as well as the outside?

What a roof survey includes

Useful tips for Turville property owners

Most of what helps is simple and safe from ground level. A few suggestions:

  • A word with neighbours beforehand helps
  • Let us know what you want to see
  • Expect us to rearrange if it’s too windy or wet
  • Shut pets inside while we fly

The report gives any roofer you ask to quote a clear brief. The photos show the location and extent of every problem, so their quotes cover the same ground.

Do not block the vents at the eaves. Condensation in the loft can damage timbers and insulation, and it’s something only an inside check will show. Check insulation does not block the airflow.
