About our drone roof survey in Waterhall
We carry out drone roof surveys in Waterhall and across London and South East England, where the airspace and the weather allow. We fly on any day of the week. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form. If you’re worried about hidden gutters full of leaves and loose ridge and hip tiles, we can find out what’s behind it, on large and complex roofs, chimney stacks and fragile roofs alike.
Somewhere as small as Waterhall, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from the ground. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned ahead of time. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
We keep jargon out of it: where something needs attention, it says so plainly.

Waterhall questions
Is Waterhall within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. Our area covers London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Waterhall?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.
Will I get photos?
Yes. Photos are taken throughout the survey, and they go into the written report alongside our recommendations.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and sampling are not something we do. The report may flag materials that could contain asbestos on buildings built or refurbished before 2000.
When does the report arrive?
The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. Each one is emailed, ready to forward.
How long will you be at the property?
Expect it to take about one to two hours for most houses, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. The written report follows by email.
Will you walk on the roof?
Only when it is safe. Safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed, and the report notes anything we couldn’t see.
How the survey changes by roof type
Steep slate and tile slopes
Walking on fragile coverings can break them. A drone avoids that, so the survey doesn’t add damage.
Valleys and parapet gutters
Valleys and parapet gutters are hidden from the street. From above, we can see the linings, the joints and any debris.
How the survey works
There is not much for you to do on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we’ll get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes between one and two hours at most homes, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. Older roofs in small places like Waterhall can have low, tight loft spaces, so it’s useful to know whether there’s a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- You give us the address and let us know about the roof.
- We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
- On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
How to prepare
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it’s shared
- Keep pets in another room

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
Several things affect the price of a survey:
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- House, block, shop or office
- Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
- The shape of the roof and its details
Every price we give includes VAT. Prices start from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for the job before booking.
Getting in touch
Getting the details right at the start saves time. It helps to include:
- What made you get in touch
- Whether there is a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
Once you know what you need, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. We’ll suggest a package, agree the price and find a date.
Airspace, weather and Waterhall roofs
Waterhall is within about 3 miles of the coast, and wind near the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain. About 2 miles south lies Preston Manor & Gardens, a reminder of how long the area around Waterhall has been built on. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
For site and facilities teams at buildings like Westdene Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. For an older house near a landmark such as All Saints Church, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. Shop and office owners around Churchill Square may find that big, flat commercial roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images help most.

Planning roof work without seeing the roof is a gamble. You get photos of every part we can see. You can tackle the urgent items first. Outbuildings and barns around Waterhall are easy to forget, but a failed roof there can spoil what’s stored inside. A quick look before winter can save a lot.

What else we do in Waterhall
Before and after the survey
These tips come from what we see on roofs every week:
- Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
- Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
- Expect a little longer if permission is needed
The Premium Survey report comes the same day. Drone photographs are included where we could fly.
Plan a drone survey every few years for tall or large roofs. Comparing surveys shows what is wearing, so small faults are dealt with early.
What this survey cannot tell you
It helps to know what a survey will not do before you book:
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
- A structural engineer’s report
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
