Fullerton questions
Do you cover Fullerton?
We do. The survey and report are the same in Fullerton as anywhere else, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.
Is my home in Fullerton listed or in a conservation area?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.
When does the report arrive?
It depends on the package: the Basic Survey report arrives within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey the same day. The report is emailed to you.
How long will testing take?
Testing usually takes more time on a big roof than a small one, with the construction of the roof playing a part too.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Where it helps and it’s safe, yes. Whether we can fly on the day depends on the weather and the airspace rules. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID.
How is ELD priced?
Electronic leak detection is quoted for your roof, because the method depends on the roof. The price depends on the roof’s size and build-up. For a quote, phone 07833 053749 or email us.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Only where it is safe to do so. We inspect what can safely be seen: from ground level, from windows, from inside the loft space, from the roof where it’s safe and by drone where applicable. Anything we cannot see is noted in the report.
About our electronic leak detection in Fullerton
Our ELD report shows where each breach was found, with photos. Your roofer can then repair those points instead of hunting for the leak. Repair costs aren’t part of the report; that is for your roofer to price. A retest after repairs can check the work, where the roof still suits the method. Results come in a written report with photos. If you’ve noticed leaks that return after repairs and breaches hidden under paving or planting, a survey will tell you what’s going on.
Somewhere as small as Fullerton, flat roofs tend to be on extensions, garages and converted outbuildings. They need the same care as any town roof: the covering, the edges, the upstands and where water drains away. We simply plan the journey and access beforehand. Garages and outbuildings are easy to forget, so mention any you want included as you book.
If any part of the flat roof membrane couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. You’ll know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t.

Flat and commercial roofs around Fullerton
An older home may be listed, or stand in a conservation area. To find out, check Historic England’s list and ask the council about conservation areas. Re-roofing in different materials may need permission there. A number of Hampshire villages keep thatched roofs on their older buildings. Older houses in the South East frequently have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. Next to the main roofs there’s normally a flat roof somewhere, whether on an extension, a garage or a commercial unit.
If you live in an older home near Church of St Nicholas, the joins between later flat roofs and the old walls are where problems normally start.
Fullerton is about 4 miles south of Andover, in Hampshire. Whether the building in Fullerton is a house, a flat or a commercial unit, we can survey the roof on a weekday or at the weekend. Across Hampshire, we cover Fullerton and the places around it. For surveys nearby, see our Southampton page.

Landmarks near Fullerton
Locally, jobs take us to homes and businesses close to Longstock Park and the streets around them. The closest station to Fullerton is Andover station, roughly 4.3 miles north. Other landmarks nearby include Andover War Memorial Hospital (4.6 miles north). Not far away are Anton Lakes and Mill Lake.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are frequently out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
What happens on the day
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, such as when any problem began and what work has been done before. Then the inspection itself takes longer on a large roof than a small one, with the construction of the roof playing a part too. Somewhere like Fullerton needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. On the day, we inspect whatever is safely visible, inside and out.
- We start with what you know about the roof and the leak.
- The roof is assessed for suitability first.
- The test method is chosen to suit the roof.
- We test the roof and locate any breaches.
- You get a report with photos of each breach.
Before the survey
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
- Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building

Advice
What we can’t see
To be straight with you, there are limits to any roof survey:
- Moisture spread under the membrane
- Leaks from plumbing or windows
- Carrying out the repair work
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll tell you. The full list of what we check.

What affects the cost of electronic leak detection
When we price a survey, we consider:
- Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
- How big the roof is
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- Building height and the viewpoints available
To find out what your survey will cost, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address and some details. The price is agreed before a date is set.
Getting in touch
A little information up front helps. Please include:
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
- Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
- Any deadline, such as an exchange date
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. For any other survey, just phone 07833 053749 or email us when you are ready.
What we are asked to look at in Fullerton
Water travels under flat roof membranes. The leak may show some distance from where water gets in, so tracing it by eye is difficult.
Signs worth acting on include:
- Leaks under green or ballasted roofs
- Stains far from any visible defect
- Failed seams and laps
- Repairs that haven’t stopped the leak
If you let a flat or house near Andover station, flat roofs over rear additions and dormers in rented property are worth checking between tenancies.
Before booking any roof surveyor
- Whether the price includes VAT
- Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
- Whether the roof space is looked at, where there is one
- Which limits apply to the survey
Different roofs, different checks
Liquid-applied waterproofing
Small holes in liquid waterproofing may leak. Where the roof suits it, testing can find them.
Inverted and paved roofs
A terrace or paved roof hides the waterproofing. Whether it can be tested depends on the build-up.
