Gutter Survey in Leagreen
Know where you stand with the gutter before you decide what to do next. Gutter surveys in Leagreen, with photos and a clear written report.
- Gutters full of debris and silt
- Fascia boards damaged by overflowing water
- Overflowing valley or parapet gutters
Why act early in Leagreen
Water spilling from a gutter runs down and soaks the wall below. Given time, it can cause damp patches, damaged pointing and rot in nearby timber. Finding the cause now usually keeps the fix smaller. In a small place like Leagreen, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
Every price we give includes VAT. Gutter survey starts from £150, including VAT. We confirm the price for your survey before booking.

Gutter surveys for homes and businesses in Leagreen
We survey gutters and rainwater systems in Leagreen and right across London and the South East. On the day, we inspect everything that’s safely in view from ground level, windows, the loft space and the roof where it’s safe. Time on site usually takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, and longer where there are parapet, valley or box gutters to follow. Afterwards, you get a written report with photos and recommendations. We survey fascias and soffits, outlets and hoppers and parapet and box gutters, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are sagging gutters and loose brackets and soffits marked by water.
Somewhere as small as Leagreen, homes are frequently older cottages and farmhouses, with outbuildings and some newer houses. Older roofs may be clay tile, slate, stone or thatch, frequently with chimneys that have stood a long time. Each needs checking in its own way, and thatch is a specialist material we report on as far as it can be seen. On older roofs, it’s typically the chimneys and lead flashings that need work first.
It isn’t only a list of defects. For each finding, it explains what it is, why it matters and what we’d recommend, so you can decide what to do next.

What happens on the day
We look at the roof from outside and, where it is relevant and there’s safe access, from inside the roof space too. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging, as far as the space allows. The whole visit normally takes roughly 1–2 hours at most homes, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. Around Leagreen, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so tell us about the loft hatch and any ladder. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- First, we agree the areas to focus on.
- We look along each run for debris, sagging and drips.
- We check the outlets, hoppers, downpipes and any overflows.
- Fascias, soffits and the walls below are looked at for signs of overflow.
- Findings are photographed and set out in a written report.
Getting ready for the survey
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed

Advice
What we are asked to look at in Leagreen
Many gutter joints depend on rubber seals or sealant that age. Plastic sections expand and contract with the weather, and in time their joints can drip. Cast iron joints can corrode and part once the paint has worn away.
Most people get in touch when they’ve noticed one of these:
- Leaks at the gutter joints
- Gutters full of debris and silt
- Blocked outlets and hoppers
- Rotten fascias or stained soffits
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Hordle CofE (VA) Primary School, long gutter runs and wide roofs on a building that size are worth checking on a regular cycle.

Should I look at the roof myself first?
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.
It’s useful to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when booking.

I let a flat near New Milton station. Can you check the roof?
Yes, landlords and letting agents book with us as well as owners. You can call 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and a few details, including who will give access on the day.
Does being near the coast affect roofs in Leagreen?
Yes, coastal weather is harder on roofs: there is more wind, and more salt in the air. Exposed details such as ridges, verges, flashings and metal fixings are the ones to watch, and Leagreen is within about 1 mile of the coast.
What insurance do you have?

Can you inspect my roof with a drone?
Yes, where it applies and safe. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where it applies.
Leagreen homes and their roofs
The coast is about 1 mile or less from Leagreen, where sea air brings more salt and stronger wind than inland. Salt is hard on nails, clips and metal flashings, and strong wind lifts anything already loose on a roof. With Highcliffe Castle about 4.5 miles west, Leagreen sits in an area with a long building history. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.
If you own a rental within reach of New Milton station, knowing the condition of the roof, chimneys and gutters helps you plan work rather than react to complaints. Take an older house close to Church of All Saints: the nails, lead and mortar on the roof may be wearing out even where the slates or tiles look fine.
