Gutter surveys in Pamber Green

Why get it checked now?

Going up a ladder to check your own gutters carries real risk. You can see drips and overflows from the ground, but valleys, parapets and box gutters are hard to see. Our survey covers what can safely be seen and records it with photos. For an older or listed building in a place like Pamber Green, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so leaving a defect until it’s urgent leaves less time to plan.

Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all including VAT. Size, height and access can affect the price too.

Gutter surveys for homes and businesses in Pamber Green

Gutters carry rain off the roof and away from the walls. When they block, leak or lose their fall, the water goes where it shouldn’t and that typically means the walls or the inside of the building. We check the full rainwater system above ground, including gutters, valleys, outlets, hoppers and downpipes. The findings go into a written report with photos. We survey valley gutters, downpipes and outlets and hoppers, and people most frequently book us about gutters that have fallen out of line and leaks at the gutter joints.

Somewhere as small as Pamber Green, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses, with outbuildings and some newer houses. Older roofs may be clay tile, slate, stone or thatch, often with chimneys that have stood a long time. Each needs checking in its own way, and thatch is a specialist material we report on as far as it can be seen. Chimneys and lead flashings on old roofs often need the most attention.

The report works through the roof section by section, from the coverings down to the gutters, each with a short note and a photo. It records what’s sound as well as what is not.

What this survey cannot tell you

To be straight with you, there are limits to any roof survey:

  • Blockages deep inside downpipes
  • Hidden sections we cannot view safely
  • Pipes below ground level

If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll suggest the right survey. The full list of what we check.

What we look at

  • Fascias and soffits
  • Valley gutters
  • Eaves gutters
  • Parapet and box gutters
  • Downpipes
  • Outlets and hoppers

What affects the cost of gutter surveys

All our prices include VAT. What changes the price is:

  • The size of the roof
  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
  • The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
  • The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely

Every price we give includes VAT, and the report isn’t charged as an extra. Our price is from £150, including VAT. Size, height and access decide where your roof falls.

What we need to know

If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:

  • What kind of property and roof it is
  • The address and postcode of the property
  • Access details, like a loft hatch or a shared roof
  • Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window

Surveys can be booked for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. To arrange a day that suits you, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and the days you’d prefer.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

A lot can be seen from ground level. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.

Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.

Roofs, chimneys and gutters in Pamber Green

A number of Hampshire villages keep thatched roofs on their older buildings. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Knowing the covering helps explain which parts of a roof are likely to need work first. The wider area around Pamber Green has a long history of building, with The Vyne about 2.2 miles south-east. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area.

Take a building like Tadley Community Primary School: long gutter runs and wide roofs on a building that size are worth checking on a regular cycle. If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Saint Stephen's Church, its roof may have old fixings, lead flashings and chimneys that need a closer look.

Pamber Green is about 2 miles south-east of Tadley, in Hampshire. Whether the building in Pamber Green is a house, a flat or a commercial unit, the roof can be surveyed on a weekday or at the weekend. FAQs for Pamber Green

Is Pamber Green within the area you cover?

Yes, we do. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Is my home in Pamber Green listed or in a conservation area?

We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

How do I arrange a gutter survey in Pamber Green?

To book, ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address, the type of property and what’s prompted the survey. We will confirm the price and agree a day with you.

Do I have to be there for the survey?

If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. We’ll talk about access when you book.

Is this a RICS survey?

No. It’s a specialist roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 building survey. It focuses on the roof and can sit alongside a RICS survey.

Do you use drones?

Where it helps and the rules allow, yes. Our sub-250g drone is flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID, and every flight depends on the airspace and the weather.

Can a gutter survey explain damp on my walls?

Overflowing gutters often lead to damp walls, and we check for exactly that. If the cause looks like something else, the report says so as far as we can tell from what’s visible.

Do you need a gutter survey in Pamber Green?

Hidden gutters are often lined with lead or another sheet covering. When a lining splits or an outlet blocks, the water can come inside, because there is no outer edge for it to spill over. Lead linings can also be stolen.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • Gutters overflowing in heavy rain
  • Overflowing valley or parapet gutters
  • Fascia boards damaged by overflowing water
  • Leaves and moss blocking gutters

For landlords with property near Bramley (Hants) station, the gap between tenancies is a good time to have the roof looked at.

Before you book anyone

  • Is VAT included in the price?
  • If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
  • What happens after the report arrives
  • Are they insured for the work?

What’s in a roof survey

What happens on the day

Before we start, tell us why you’ve booked: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. It helps us focus on what matters most to you. Most visits take about 1–2 hours at a house, depending on how many gutter runs and downpipes there are. Cottages and farmhouses around Pamber Green often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints, and anything we cannot see is noted.

  1. You let us know where you’ve seen overflows, drips or damp.
  2. We walk round the building and check the gutters, downpipes and fascias from ground level.
  3. Valleys, parapets and box gutters are inspected where they can be seen safely.
  4. Where it’s safe, we check the loft for signs of water.
  5. You receive a report with photos and recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure we can get to the back of the property
  • Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
  • If it is not your property yet, arrange access through the agent
