Roof survey in DA17: how it works
Our roof surveys cover DA17 and the wider South East. Visits run seven days a week. We are insured for professional indemnity and public liability. Each survey ends with a written report, emailed with photographs and recommendations. Whether it’s a house, a flat or a commercial building, the process is the same. To arrange a survey, call 07833 053749 or send us an email. We survey the roof space, clay and concrete tiles and lead flashings, and common reasons people get in touch are slates or tiles that have slipped or broken and worn lead at chimneys and abutments.
We work from the outside in: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the roof space where it can be reached. All told, expect between one and two hours at most homes, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer.
- You tell us the address, the type of roof and what’s worrying you.
- We agree a date, including weekends if that suits you.
- Outside, we inspect from the ground, windows and other safe vantage points, and from the roof where safe.
- We then look in the loft for damp, staining and the condition of the underlay.
- You receive the report with photos and recommendations, prioritised by urgency.
Prices in DA17

The countryside around Belvedere includes Crossness Nature Reserve.
Roof surveys across DA17: local notes
DA17 has everything from older homes with tall chimneys to modern estates. Sooner or later, every roof needs its gutters, flashings and coverings checked, wherever they are in DA17.
Our surveys reach from London out to Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Essex, the Thames Valley, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, DA17 included. We survey on any day of the week.
Belvedere: Homes near green spaces such as Lesnes Abbey Woods can get more leaves in their gutters in autumn. Take an older house close to Parish Church of All Saints: its chimney, valleys and lead work are likely to be the parts that need attention first.
Landlord and commercial surveys in DA17
Any of our surveys can be booked by landlords, agents and building managers in DA17. To discuss a property or a block, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
Shared roofs need a little more planning: we need access agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Let us know about it when you book and we’ll plan the visit with that in mind.
Honest limits
In fairness, a roof survey has limits:
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
- Whether materials contain asbestos (that needs a specialist asbestos surveyor)
- An exact number of years the roof has left
Useful tips for DA17 property owners
A little preparation and a few simple habits help, both for the survey and for the roof itself. Our tips:
- Keep the report with your property records
- Photograph stains when they appear
- Mention any flat roofs as well as the main roof
- Look for debris in the garden after high winds
Your report arrives by email, with photos of what we found. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24 to 48 hours and Premium the same day. Each finding is set out in plain English.
Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. Watch for stains, damp timbers and daylight through the roof. Photograph anything new.
Roof by roof
Clay plain and peg tiles
Older homes in the Weald and across the South East often have clay plain tiles, and some have Kent peg tiles held by pegs. Rotten pegs and battens let tiles move.
Flat roof coverings
Repeated coatings can hide what’s underneath. We say what we can see and when a closer look would need opening up.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
You can learn a lot from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
What you can’t do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey.
FAQs for DA17
Which days do you carry out surveys?
Surveys run on weekdays and at weekends. To arrange a date, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Will you climb onto the roof?
Only where it’s safe to do so. Much of the survey is done from ground level, upper windows and the roof space. The Premium Survey adds a drone where it applies.
Do you cover DA17 for roof surveys?
Yes, we do. We carry out roof surveys in DA17, and the service is the same as everywhere else we work.
How do I book a survey in DA17?
The quickest way is to call 07833 053749 or send us an email. Tell us the address and a little about the roof, and we will take it from there. Surveys run on weekdays and at weekends.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes, if the freeholder or managing agent agrees access. On a shared roof we can only inspect the parts we are allowed to reach.
Is your survey a structural engineer’s report?
No. We report on the roof’s condition, and the Standard and Premium packages include a structural check. It does not include structural calculations, which need an engineer.
