Roof survey in Curbridge, Hampshire
Wondering about the roof at a property in Curbridge? You can book a roof survey in Curbridge and across Hampshire, with plain-English findings.
- Gaps in the roof where coverings have gone
- Blocked, sagging or leaking gutters
- Cracked or blistered flat roof coverings
How the survey works
Time on site depends on the size and shape of the roof; as a rough guide, the survey takes about one to two hours for an ordinary house roof, and longer if there are extensions, dormers or several chimneys. You are welcome to ask questions while we are there. In a smaller place like Curbridge, as anywhere, the forecast plays a part: the parts that need calm, dry weather are planned around it.
- We start with the property details and any concerns.
- We agree a date, including weekends if that suits you.
- We look at the roof from each safe vantage point outside.
- Inside, we check the roof space where there’s safe access.
- We email a report with photos and recommendations.
Before the survey
- For flats, make sure roof access has been agreed
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch

Roof survey in Curbridge
We inspect what can be seen safely: from ground level, from windows, from the roof space and from the roof where conditions allow. Premium adds thermal imaging, plus a drone inspection where it applies, which helps with tall or steep roofs. You don’t need to do anything except give us access. Everything we see is photographed for the report. We’re often asked to look into torn or sagging underlay and loose chimney pots, on natural slate, lead flashings and the roof space.
Around Curbridge, older cottages sit alongside bungalows and newer houses. Older roofs can have slate, clay tiles or other traditional coverings, while many later ones have concrete tiles. Chimneys, valleys and gutters on older homes frequently need the most attention. The fixings under an older roof often fail before good slates or tiles do.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

Tips from our surveys
You do not need to be a roofer to help. What helps most:
- Include dormers, porches and garages when booking
- File the report with your home documents
- Check we can open the loft hatch
- Take photos of any leaks as they happen
With the Standard Survey you get a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation. It is a chance to ask questions about anything in the report.
Do not block the vents at the eaves. A stuffy loft collects condensation, and it can wet timbers and insulation. Keep insulation clear of eaves vents.
What affects the cost of roof surveys
The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. That comes down to:
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
- Commercial roofs and larger buildings
- The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package matters as well. The price is always agreed first.
What we need to know
A little information up front helps. It helps to include:
- When you need the report by
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
- The reason for the survey, like buying, a leak or storm damage

Common questions in Curbridge
Do you cover smaller places like Curbridge?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.
Does being near the coast affect roofs in Curbridge?
Places near the sea get more wind and more salt in the air than inland, and both are hard on roofs. Salt corrodes metal fixings and flashings, and wind lifts loose slates, tiles and ridge pieces.
What insurance do you have?
We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.
How many surveys have you done?
Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys.
Can you look at a roof that’s joined to next door?
Yes. We survey the parts of the roof you have access to. Where a defect looks to be on the neighbour’s side, the report says so.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
Not necessarily. If we only need the outside, we can agree that beforehand, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.
Will you check the loft?
If the survey needs it and the roof space can be reached safely, yes. Please clear anything stored under the hatch.
What we cannot see
This isn’t a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- A full building survey of the property
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
- How the roof will behave in every kind of weather
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll suggest the right survey before booking. What a survey covers and does not.
What we look at
- Flat roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Natural slate
- Clay and concrete tiles
- Ridges, hips and valleys
- Lead flashings
- The roof space
Leave it or get it looked at?
By the time water marks a ceiling, it’s frequently been getting in for a while. Damp spreads through insulation and timber before anything shows below. From inside the roof space, we can often spot it sooner. With lower homes, common in places like Curbridge, there is little between a roof defect and the ceiling, so a small leak can mark a ceiling within a few storms. Catching the cause first saves redecorating as well.
Roof survey starts from £150, including VAT. The final price depends on how big and how high the roof is, how it can be seen safely and which survey you book.
Why us?
- Over 5,000 surveys carried out
- Drones and thermal imaging where applicable
- We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
- Professional indemnity and public liability insurance

Roof surveys around Curbridge
Curbridge lies within about 5 miles of the sea, and wind near the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour. Some Hampshire villages still have thatched roofs. Older houses in the South East often have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. Each of these coverings has its own weak points, from fixings and valleys to flashings, chimneys and gutters.
Whatever the street in Curbridge, a roof costs least to look after when faults are caught early. If you let a flat or house near Botley station, knowing the condition of the roof, chimneys and gutters helps you plan work rather than react to complaints.

What you can safely check yourself
What you can’t do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That’s where a survey comes in.
