Roof survey in Egypt: what you get

People book a roof survey for all sorts of reasons. Some have seen a mark on a ceiling or bits of tile in the garden, others want a check before selling or after years without one. The approach is the same in each case: we inspect carefully and explain what we see in writing. We survey on weekdays and at weekends, so finding a time is rarely difficult. If you’re worried about leaking gutter joints and downpipes and crumbling chimney pointing or cracked flaunching, a survey will tell you what’s going on.

In a small place like Egypt, many roofs stand in the open, so ridges, chimney stacks, flashings and gutters work hard. Older walls take a long time to dry once water gets in. A roof report shows what needs attention first. Lead flashings and old chimney stacks are often where weather gets in first.

The report records the roof as we found it on the day. That makes it useful now and a handy reference later, for instance when you want to check whether anything has changed.

DIY checks: what’s safe

Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level, and those are details a survey looks at closely.

Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.

Roof surveys in Egypt: local notes

A number of Hampshire villages keep thatched roofs on their older buildings. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Knowing the covering helps explain which parts of a roof are likely to need work first. What can be done to an older roof may depend on listing or a conservation area. Your council and Historic England’s list will tell you where you stand.

If you let a flat or house near Micheldever station, knowing the condition of the roof, chimneys and gutters helps you plan work rather than react to complaints.

What affects the cost of roof surveys

Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before booking. This is what makes a difference:

  • Roof area
  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • Height and safe access

Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package matters as well. The price is always agreed first.

Getting in touch

These details help when you contact us:

  • What’s prompted the survey
  • Where water is showing inside, if it is
  • The address and postcode of the property
  • The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat

We confirm the exact price before booking, so you know the cost up front. Our price is from £150, including VAT. To book, call 07833 053749 or email us.

Do you need a roof survey in Egypt?

Chimneys stand exposed above the roof. Mortar crumbles, the flaunching around the pots cracks and stacks can lean. Water that gets into a stack can show up as damp in the rooms below.

A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:

  • Standing water on a flat roof
  • Leaning or weathered chimney stacks
  • Gutters that overflow in heavy rain
  • Debris building up in roof valleys

The streets around a church such as Ebenezer Methodist Chapel are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if you own one of the older houses nearby, its chimney, valleys and lead work are likely to be the parts that need attention first.

What to check before booking

  • Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
  • Whether VAT is in the quoted price
  • What insurance they carry
  • Their track record with similar roofs

Surveys for landlords and agents in Egypt

If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in. Surveys run on weekdays and at weekends, which helps when tenants work during the week.

Letting agents frequently book on a landlord’s behalf, and the report can go to both. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.

Egypt questions

I let a flat near Micheldever station. Can you check the roof?

Of course. We just need to know who will give access, and we can send the report to you or your agent.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Egypt?

You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it is in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

Can you survey in bad weather?

It can, depending on the survey. Drones can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with a dry roof, little wind and a sunny day beforehand. We will rearrange with you if the weather isn’t right.

Do you go up on the roof?

Only where it is safe to do so. Much of the survey is done from ground level, upper windows and the roof space. On Premium, a drone is used where it applies.

Can you tell me how long my roof will last?

We don’t give a number of years. We describe the condition of each part of the roof and how it is wearing, and we say what needs attention and how urgently.

How many surveys have you done?

Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys, across London and South East England.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in if we are looking inside or in the loft. Access is agreed with you when you book.

Why get it checked now?

A roof that has had no attention for years can surprise you. Our report gives you a record of how the roof is today, which makes later changes easy to spot. Outbuildings and barns around Egypt are easy to forget, but a failed roof there can spoil what’s stored inside. It is worth including them in a survey before a winter does the damage.

The cost of a survey depends on the roof: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how safely it can be seen. Our price is from £150, including VAT.

Why us?

  • Over 20 years’ experience
  • Visits on any day of the week
  • Independent findings on the roof’s condition
  • Over 5,000 surveys carried out

How it works

Safety comes first on every visit. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and anything we can’t see is noted in the report. The survey usually takes about one to two hours for most homes, depending on how many separate roofs there are. Rural addresses near Egypt can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. You pick the package that suits your roof.
  2. On the day, we start by hearing what you’ve noticed.
  3. We inspect and photograph every part of the roof we can safely see.
  4. Moisture detection, a structural check, thermal imaging or a drone are added where your package includes them.
  5. The report is emailed with findings and recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Move anything stored under the loft hatch
  • Point out any leaks or damp patches
  • Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
