Roof survey in Radclive

Our report is written in plain English, not jargon. Every issue comes with photos and a written recommendation, and we rank them by urgency where that helps. The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, a drone where it applies and a same-day report. Each report is emailed to you. We survey ridges, hips and valleys, the roof space and natural slate, and common reasons people get in touch are flashings that have come away from the wall and loose chimney pots.

Older buildings in small places like Radclive may be listed or in a conservation area. That can affect what materials can be used when work is done, so check with the council before planning anything. A roof report helps you plan work with that in mind. Where a building is listed, matching the existing roof materials is often expected.

Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

Questions from Radclive

Do you carry out roof surveys in Radclive?

Yes, Radclive is within the area we cover. We work right across London and South East England. Just phone 07833 053749 or email us and let us know about the property.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Radclive?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

What do you check on a roof survey?

We check the coverings, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters, along with the loft where it is safe. The report includes photos and recommendations.

What’s the best way to book?

Simply phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. We will ask a few questions, confirm the price and agree a date.

Do you carry out asbestos surveys?

No. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain asbestos. Our report notes any materials that might, and recommends a specialist asbestos surveyor looks at them.

Can you look at a roof that is joined to next door?

Yes, we can. We inspect what the owner gives us access to. Where a defect looks to be on the neighbour’s side, the report says so.

Do I have to be there for the survey?

It depends on what we need to see. For inside areas and the roof space, someone has to give us access.

Landlords, agents and block managers in Radclive

Where a roof is shared: we need access agreed with the building owner or managing agent. Let us know about it when booking and we’ll plan the survey around it.

Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too, including offices, shops and units. Larger roofs take longer, so they’re priced to suit.

Why act early in Radclive

Roof faults rarely stay the same size. One slipped slate lets water reach the battens and underlay, and wet timber starts to decay. Finding it early keeps the work smaller. In a small place like Radclive, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where applicable, which starts from £400, inc. VAT. We will tell you which package suits the questions you have.

What you get with us

Honest limits

Before booking, it’s worth knowing what a survey won’t do:

  • A full building survey of the property
  • A promise that the roof won’t leak in future
  • Defects hidden under coverings or inside walls without opening up

If you are not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer. What our survey covers.

What a roof survey looks like in Radclive

Some villages in Buckinghamshire still have thatched roofs. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Whichever you have, the details that tend to fail before the covering itself get the closest look. If the drone is used for your survey, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.

Stowe House lies about 2.1 miles north, so building around Radclive goes back a long way. If yours is one of the older homes, the roof may have been repaired many times, and the survey records how each part is holding up. If your house is among the older ones in the streets near Church of St John, old fixings, lead flashings and tall chimneys are typical of older roofs. Take a building like Royal Latin School: long gutter runs and wide roofs on a building that size are worth checking on a regular cycle.

Before and after the survey

Small things make a difference. Our tips:

  • Find records of any re-roofing or repairs
  • Mention any damp patches when you book
  • Check the roof from the ground after storms
  • Stay off ladders and the roof

The Premium Survey includes a 12-month follow-up. It helps you see whether anything has changed.

Keep the roof space ventilated. A stuffy loft collects condensation, and it can wet timbers and insulation. Keep insulation clear of eaves vents.

What happens on the day

We do not take risks to get a closer look. We inspect what can safely be seen, and if part of the roof can’t be seen, the report says so. Most visits take between one and two hours for most homes, depending on how many separate roofs there are. In a hamlet or village like Radclive, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.

  1. You pick the package that suits your roof.
  2. On the day, we start by hearing what you’ve noticed.
  3. Coverings, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are inspected and photographed.
  4. Moisture detection, a structural check, thermal imaging or a drone are added where your package includes them.
  5. The report is emailed with findings and recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • Show us where any leaks or stains appear
  • Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
  • Mention any parking restrictions on your street
