Storm damage roof reports for homes and businesses in Hadlow
If your roof has been damaged, stay safe first. Photograph the damage from ground level or a window, and never climb up. Emergency temporary protection, like covering an opening, is a job for a roofer. Our report records the damage so you have an independent record to give your insurer. Keep receipts for any emergency work. We are often asked to look into damaged pots on the stack and damaged flat roof membrane, across flashings, slate and tile slopes and ridges and hips.
Many homes in small places like Hadlow face open ground, where storms hit ridges, verges and chimneys hardest. Once water gets into older walls, it takes a long time to dry, which makes finding the cause quickly worthwhile. A record with photos is useful if you need to show the damage to anyone else.
If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. You’ll know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t.

What affects the price in Hadlow
All our prices include VAT. What changes the price is:
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
- Whether it is a home or a commercial building
Storm damage roof report starts from £150, including VAT. Basic starts from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, VAT included.
Helping us price your survey
You do not need to know any roofing terms. It is enough to let us know:
- The kind of building and roof involved
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
- What’s prompted the survey
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
Once you know what you need, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form. From there it’s a case of choosing a package, agreeing the price and fixing a day, weekday or weekend.
Tips from our surveys
Over many surveys, some simple habits stand out as worth the effort:
- Note the date and time you first saw the damage
- Look at what your policy says about wear and tear
- Photograph the damage safely from below
- Record any water damage in rooms and the loft
If a claim is declined and you disagree, the first step is a complaint to the insurer. If that does not resolve it, the Financial Ombudsman Service may be able to help.
Clear gutters and outlets before the stormy months. Blocked drainage can add water damage to wind damage.
What else we do in Hadlow
Leaks and storm damage in Hadlow
Historic houses such as Old Soar Manor, about 2.6 miles north, show how far back building in the area around Hadlow goes. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first. Older houses across Kent frequently have handmade clay or peg tiles, and many have tile-hung walls. You’ll also find oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses among the county’s older buildings. Knowing the roof type helps narrow down where water may be getting in.
If you look after a building such as Hadlow Primary School, water through a big roof can travel a long way before it drips, so the search covers more than the obvious spot. If you own a rental within reach of Beltring station, finding the cause of a leak fast keeps a tenant’s home dry and the work focused. The streets around a church such as St Mary's Church are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, old mortar, worn lead and slipped slates are the usual suspects when water gets in.
Hadlow is about 3 miles north-east of Tonbridge, in Kent. We visit Hadlow as part of our work across Kent, for houses, flats and commercial buildings. Hadlow is one of the places in Kent where we work. We also survey roofs in Maidstone.
Surveys in TN11 work the same way as everywhere else we cover. We cover properties on The Square, High Street and Brookfields and the roads around them. If you’re just outside Hadlow, we cover Pittswood (1 mile west), Goose Green (1 mile north-east), Golden Green (1 mile south), Parker's Green (1 mile south-west) and Barnes Street (1 mile south-east). Further out, we also cover Maidstone (9 miles east), Sevenoaks (7 miles north-west), Royal Tunbridge Wells (7 miles south-west), Gravesend (14 miles north), Tonbridge (3 miles south-west) and Northfleet (14 miles north).

The countryside around Hadlow includes Barden Lake and Tudeley Woods RSPB reserve.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Do not go up yourself.
A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
How it works
We don’t take risks to get a closer look. We inspect whatever is safely visible, and anything we can’t see is noted in the report. Most visits take an hour or two for most homes, depending on how much of the roof was hit. Rural addresses near Hadlow can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- We start with the details: when the storm hit and what damage you can see.
- We inspect the roof from safe viewpoints and from the loft where there is access.
- Each area of damage is photographed and described.
- The likely cause is recorded, along with any evidence of older wear.
- The findings are written up with photos for you to share with your insurer.
Preparing for the visit
- If you are buying, let the agent know when we’re coming
- Jot down any questions you want answered
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
Getting a price
If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Pictures from ground level or a window are fine, and please do not climb up for a closer look. To send them or to book, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

Hadlow questions
Will you come out to Hadlow?
Yes, we do. We survey roofs across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it’s useful to know about access.
Is my home in Hadlow listed or in a conservation area?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it is in a conservation area. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Do you look in the roof space?
Where it is relevant to the survey and there’s safe access, yes. A clear path to the hatch helps, and if the loft can’t be reached safely, the report says so.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Visits run seven days a week in the daytime. Let us know your preferred days when booking.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Yes, where it applies and safe. We are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. It’s included in the Drone Roof Survey and, where it applies, the Premium Survey.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Not always. Safety comes first, and fragile or steep roofs cannot always be walked on. Safe viewpoints, the loft and a drone where it applies let us see the rest.
Can you tell me if my claim will be paid?
That is not something we can promise. Insurers decide claims on their own policy wording. Our report gives you an independent record of the damage and its likely cause.
What this survey cannot tell you
Every survey has limits, and we’d rather be clear about that before you book. Bear these in mind:
- Whether your insurer will pay the claim
- Repair costs or quotes for the work
- Damage hidden under coverings or inside the structure, without opening up
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will tell you. What a survey covers and does not.
Roof types and parts we check
- Ridges and hips
- Chimney stacks
- Slate and tile slopes
- Flat roofs
- Gutters and fascias
- Flashings
Why get it checked now?
Your policy may say how quickly you need to report damage. Check the wording and tell your insurer as soon as you can. Our report can then add a clear record. Around Hadlow, older homes frequently have old roof timbers, and water through a failed covering can rot timber if it is left.
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where it applies) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, inc. VAT. We will tell you which package suits the questions you have.
