Storm damage roof report in Iden Green
A storm damage roof report is an independent record of the damage to your roof after a storm. It sets out what is damaged, with photos, and what we think the likely cause is. You can then give it to your insurer with your claim. The decision on any claim rests with your insurer and its policy wording. We are not loss adjusters, and we can’t tell you whether a claim will succeed. If you’re worried about damaged ridges and hips and loose or broken chimney pots and cowls, we can find out what’s behind it.
Being in a small place like Iden Green makes no difference to how a leak or storm damage is looked at: the journey and access are just planned ahead of time. Let us know where the water shows, when it appears and anything you’ve noticed outside, along with any repairs done before. Photos of the stain and of the roof from outside are helpful too.
The report records the roof as we found it on the day. That makes it useful now and a handy reference later, for instance when you want to check whether anything has changed.

Common questions in Iden Green
Will you come out to Iden Green?
We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.
Is my home in Iden Green listed or in a conservation area?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you are planning to re-roof in a different material.
What do I do if water is coming in?
Call a roofer for emergency temporary protection. Take photos from ground level first if it’s safe. Keep receipts for any emergency work.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. Our survey looks at the roof, not the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you’ll need a RICS survey as well.
What’s the best way to book?
To arrange a survey, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and let us know the address and what you need to know. We’ll confirm the price and find a day that suits.
Will my insurer pay out if I get a storm damage report?
We cannot say whether a claim will be paid. The decision rests with your insurer and its policy. What we provide is an independent record of the damage.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, as long as access is agreed. Roofs over flats are often shared, so whoever owns or manages the building needs to agree access. We inspect only the parts we’re allowed to reach.
How we price storm damage roof reports
Several things affect the price of a survey:
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
- How big the roof is
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
Storm damage roof report starts from £150, including VAT. The final price depends on how big and how high the roof is, access and the package you choose.
Getting in touch
You don’t need to know any roofing terms. It’s enough to tell us:
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- Your timetable, such as an exchange date
- Where the property is, with the postcode
Most bookings start with a short call: phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will ask a few questions about the roof. You’ll have a price before anything is arranged.

Rented homes, blocks and businesses
For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. Recommendations are set out in order of urgency where relevant, which helps with budgets and planning.
Shared roofs need a little more planning: we need access agreed with the building owner or managing agent. Tell us about it as you book and we will plan the visit with that in mind.
What we’re asked to look at in Iden Green
Some people book because a claim has been questioned. An independent report gives you another view of the roof. What happens next is up to the insurer.
Here are some of the things we see frequently:
- Holes or cracks caused by debris
- Water coming in after the storm
- Lifted or missing ridge and hip tiles
- Damaged pots on the stack
For site and facilities teams at buildings like Benenden Church of England Primary School, a leak through a large roof is frequently found some distance from where the water shows inside.
Before you book anyone
- When you’ll get the report
- Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
- Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?
- What experience they bring
Leaks and storm damage in Iden Green
Older houses across Kent frequently have handmade clay or peg tiles, and many have tile-hung walls. The county’s older buildings also include oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses. Different coverings let water in at different points, which shapes where the search starts. Historic houses like Great Dixter, about 4.2 miles south, show how far back building in the area around Iden Green goes. If you own one of the older houses, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near Church of St George, the leak may come from a chimney, a valley or tired lead rather than the covering itself.

What this survey cannot tell you
To be straight with you, there are limits to any roof survey:
- What’s beneath slates, tiles or membranes
- Estimates of repair costs
- Your insurer’s view of the claim
If you’re not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer. What our survey covers.
Roof types and parts we check
- Chimney stacks
- Flashings
- Gutters and fascias
- Ridges and hips
- Flat roofs
- Slate and tile slopes
How the survey works
The visit usually starts outside and finishes in the loft: outside views come first, then the roof space if there’s safe access. All told, expect about 1–2 hours for a house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Cottages and farmhouses around Iden Green frequently have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely, and anything we cannot see is noted.
- First we go through when the storm hit and what you’ve noticed.
- The roof is inspected from safe positions.
- Each area of damage is photographed and described.
- We note the likely cause and any signs of older wear.
- We send you the report by email for your insurer.
Before we arrive
- Jot down any questions you want answered
- Check we can get to the back of the property
- Let us know about parking near the property

What you can safely check yourself
A lot can be seen from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date, which helps when we look at the roof.
