Storm damage roof report in Seven Sisters, Greater London
Get a clear view of the roof at a property in Seven Sisters. We visit on weekdays and at weekends.
- Loose or torn flashings
- Slipped or missing slates or tiles
- Stains appearing after strong winds
Why it is worth a survey now in Seven Sisters
It helps to get a record soon after the storm, while the damage is fresh. Later weather and temporary repairs can make it harder to see what happened. A hidden valley or parapet gutter on a London house can hold water for weeks before anyone notices. By the time a ceiling stains, the timbers underneath may have been wet for a while.
What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: how big it is, how high it is, the number of separate roofs and how it can be reached and seen safely. Our price is from £150, including VAT.

Storm damage roof reports for homes and businesses in Seven Sisters
Our storm damage report gives you an independent, written record of how a storm has affected your roof. We record each area of damage, photograph it and note the likely cause. It is yours to pass to your insurer. Insurers decide claims on their own policy wording. We are not loss adjusters and can’t say whether a claim will be paid. We are often asked to look into lead lifted at abutments and cowls or aerials dislodged in the wind, on ridges and hips, slate and tile slopes and flashings.
In a London flat, water can travel some way before it shows. Tracing it back matters, both for dealing with the cause and for any insurance claim. We look at what we are given access to in Seven Sisters, inside and out. It is useful to know when the water appears and in what weather.
The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent, whichever applies.

Honest limits
Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, and that sets some limits:
- Damage hidden under coverings or inside the structure, without opening up
- Estimates of repair costs
- Your insurer’s view of the claim

Signs you need a storm damage roof report in Seven Sisters
Flat roofs can be damaged too. Wind can lift edges and tear coverings, and blocked outlets can leave water ponding after heavy rain. We record what we find on flat and pitched roofs alike.
Look out for signs like these:
- Gutters pulled loose in the wind
- Flashings pulled away from walls or stacks
- Slates and tiles blown off the roof
- Holes or cracks caused by debris
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Earlsmead Primary School, water through a big roof can travel a long way before it drips, so the search covers more than the obvious spot.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- What experience they bring
- Their drone registration, if they fly one
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
- How they plan to inspect the roof safely
Tips from our surveys
A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:
- Arrange temporary cover with a roofer if rain is getting in
- Hold on to fallen pieces of the roof where you can
- Keep a note of the date of the storm
- Don’t go onto the roof to take pictures
Your insurer may send a loss adjuster to look at the damage. Our report gives you an independent record alongside theirs.
A well-maintained roof stands up to storms better. Fix slipped slates, loose ridges and lifted flashings when you spot them.
Storm damage roof reports around Seven Sisters
Inner London’s Victorian and Edwardian terraces often have Welsh slate roofs. Many have butterfly roofs draining to a central valley gutter, with parapet walls and gutters hidden behind them. Lead flashings, party-wall upstands and shared chimney stacks are typical of these houses, if yours is one of them. Knowing the roof type helps narrow down where water may be getting in. Historic houses such as Bruce Castle, about 1.2 miles north, show how far back building in the area around Seven Sisters goes. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.
If you live in an older home near Church of Holy Trinity, lead flashings, valleys and old chimneys are typical places for water to get in. If you own a rental within reach of Seven Sisters station, a tenant living with a leak needs the cause found, not just the stain painted over.

All our prices include VAT. What changes the price is:
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
- The roof’s overall size

Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all including VAT. Size, height and access can affect the price too.
Booking your survey
Before you get in touch, it helps to have:
- The reason for the survey, like buying, a leak or storm damage
- Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
- The address and postcode of the property
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
You can call us seven days a week, including Saturdays and Sundays. To book or ask a question, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
The survey, step by step
Time on site depends on the size and shape of the roof, but as a rough guide the survey takes about one to two hours for most homes, depending on how much of the roof was hit. If you have questions on the day, just ask. From the street, a London terrace normally shows only its front slope or parapet, so a visit in Seven Sisters moves between viewpoints: the pavement, upstairs windows, the loft and any safe spot at the back. Shared stairs or a basement flat? Tell us who holds the keys.
- You tell us when the storm was and what damage you’ve seen.
- The roof is looked at from the ground, from windows and from the loft space where it is safe.
- We photograph and record every area of damage we can see.
- The likely cause is recorded, along with any evidence of older wear.
- You get a written report you can pass to your insurer.
How to prepare
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with whoever owns or manages the building
- Find any records of previous roof work
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey
How to book
Photos help, if you have them. Take them safely from ground level or a window, and please don’t climb up for a closer look. To get started, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Advice
Your questions about storm damage roof reports in Seven Sisters
Do you carry out roof surveys in Seven Sisters?
We do. The survey and report are the same in Seven Sisters as anywhere else, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.
Can parking be tricky for a visit in Seven Sisters?
London parking needs a little planning, so let us know about permits, bays or a driveway as you book. That way the visit can be planned around it.
Will you go up on the roof?
Not unless it is safe. Safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. Our survey is a roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey of the whole building. It focuses on the roof and can sit alongside a RICS survey.
What’s the best way to book?
It’s easiest to phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email. Give us the address and some details about the roof, and we will take it from there. We survey on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. It may be present in buildings built or refurbished before 2000.
Does your report mean my claim will be accepted?
We can’t say whether a claim will be paid. Insurers decide claims on their own policy wording. What we provide is an independent record of the damage.
