Drone roof survey in Bishopsgate

Prices start from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where it applies, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There’s a 12-month follow-up as well. We’ll tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. If you are worried about flat roofs on upper floors that hold water and lifted or split lead flashings, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.

London’s roofs are often hard to see from the street: valley gutters behind parapets, dormers and flat-roofed rear additions. That is where a view from the air or a thermal camera helps, by showing what cannot be reached safely. Weather on the day decides whether it goes ahead, in Bishopsgate as anywhere. What a thermal image shows is temperature, so anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter.

We write the report in plain English, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Each point is backed by a photograph where possible, with the urgent items made clear.

Different roofs, different checks

Valleys and parapet gutters

A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. It is almost impossible to see from the ground, but it is plain to see from the air.

Chimney stacks

From the air, a lean or a loose pot is easy to see. Each defect is photographed for the report.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Bishopsgate?

Large roofs take a long time to see on foot. The drone covers the surface area by area, showing patterns of wear that are hard to spot up close. That gives a clearer picture of the roof as a whole.

Look out for signs like these:

  • Outlets choked with leaves and silt
  • Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
  • Vegetation in valleys and gutters
  • Slates or tiles shifted by high winds

A roof leak in a hotel or guest house around Bishopsgate means lost rooms as well as repairs.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What exactly goes into their report
  • Whether you can ask questions once you have the report
  • Which limits apply to the survey
  • Whether the loft is part of the inspection

Bishopsgate: your questions answered

How do I find out if my home in Bishopsgate is listed?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

Are there drone restrictions around Bishopsgate?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. The restricted area over the City of London, where drone flights need permission from NATS, is about 1 mile from Bishopsgate. If a roof falls inside it, we apply for permission before flying, and the flight only goes ahead if it is granted. Across London there are restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, plus restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Each address is checked against all of them before the drone goes up. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Do you work in Bishopsgate?

Yes. We survey roofs in Bishopsgate and the rest of Greater London, as part of our work across London and South East England. For a price, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

Do you need to get into the loft?

If there’s a loft and safe access to it, yes. From inside, the underside of the roof frequently shows damp, staining or daylight that cannot be seen from outside.

Are you structural engineers?

No. We note visible signs such as sagging or deflection, but we are not structural engineers and do not carry out calculations. Where an engineer is needed, we say so in the report.

How do I book a survey in Bishopsgate?

Simply call 07833 053749 or email us. We’ll ask a few questions, confirm the price and agree a date, weekday or weekend.

Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?

We survey seven days a week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Just let us know the days that suit you.

How we price drone roof surveys

Survey packages start from £150, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on:

  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
  • How big the roof is
  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings
  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details

One thing that affects the price is the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, with VAT included. Size, height and access can affect the price too.

Getting in touch

The more you tell us, the easier it is to price the survey. When you get in touch, it helps to mention:

  • The style of property, from a terrace to a block
  • When you need the report by
  • Where the property is, with the postcode
  • What’s prompted the survey

To book a survey, ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address and what you’d like to know about the roof. We’ll confirm the price before booking.

When you need someone else

We only report whatever is safely visible on the day, so there are some things a survey can’t cover:

  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly
  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads

If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will recommend the right survey. What our survey covers.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks

What you can safely check yourself

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way. That part is for a survey.

Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

Flying and imaging in Bishopsgate

Bishopsgate is about 1 mile from the restricted area over the City of London, where drone flights need permission from NATS. If a roof falls inside it, we apply for permission before flying, and the flight only goes ahead if it is granted. With Mansion House about 0.4 miles south-west, Bishopsgate sits in an area with a long building history. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters.

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Ethelburga, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that is where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps. Anyone responsible for a site like The London School of Barbering will know that a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

How the survey works

The aim of the visit is simple: to see as much of the roof as can be seen safely and record it clearly. Notes and photos go into the written report. It normally takes about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Surveys in Bishopsgate can be booked for any day of the week. It helps if you can point us to a visitor permit or a nearby bay. A back bedroom window can be the best vantage point for a rear addition, so we may ask to use one.

  1. We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
  2. A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
  3. We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we’re surveying.
  4. We also look inside the loft space where it’s safe.
  5. Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
