Drone Roof Survey in Blackwall
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach around Blackwall, with a written report you can act on. Weekday and weekend visits available.
- Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
- Loose ridge and hip tiles
Can I check my roof myself?
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date.
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are frequently out of sight.
How a drone roof survey works in Blackwall
Our price is from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where applicable, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. We will tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. Common reasons to book are debris building up in hidden gutters and worn lead at chimneys and walls, on flat roofs on upper floors, chimney stacks and tall and steep roofs.
London roofs sit shoulder to shoulder in terraces and blocks, so privacy and neighbours matter as much as the view. We take care to focus on the roof we’ve been asked to look at. Let us know about the building and access as you book. The extra view helps most on steep slopes, tall stacks and rear additions.
How fast the report arrives depends on the package: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

How it works
We check the roof from outside and, where it’s relevant and there’s safe access, from inside the roof space too. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement, as far as the space allows. The whole visit typically takes between one and two hours at most homes, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. In Blackwall, as in much of London, lots of properties are flats or terraces without side access, so rear slopes are viewed from windows, the loft or, where a flight is allowed, by drone. Mention any building rules, key holders or managing agents when booking.
- You give us the address and let us know about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Leave a clear route to the loft
- Find any records of previous roof work
- Leave side gates unlocked

Advice
Drones, thermal imaging and Blackwall roofs
The restricted area over the Isle of Dogs, where drone flights need permission from NATS, is about 1 mile from Blackwall. We check whether the address falls inside it, and if it does we apply for permission, which isn’t always given. Blackwall has a number of hotels within about a mile and a half, and hotels, like offices and blocks of flats, frequently have flat roofs. If you look after one, a large roof can be surveyed without guests having anyone working above them.
For businesses in and around places such as Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it. Take an older house close to All Saints Church: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Woolmore Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.
Blackwall is about 1 mile south-west of Canning Town, in Greater London. We survey roofs in Blackwall and the rest of Greater London, as part of our work across London and the South East. Our area takes in places right across Greater London.
We work across E14, SE10 and E16 for drone roof surveys. If you need a drone roof survey at a property on Nutmeg Lane, Athol Square and Leamouth Road or a nearby road, we can help. With the A102 and A1206 close by, Blackwall is simple for us to get to for drone roof surveys. Neighbouring places we cover for drone roof surveys include Coldharbour (1 mile south-west), Leamouth (1 mile north-east), Limmo Peninsula (1 mile north-east), Poplar (1 mile west) and London Docklands (1 mile west). Further out, we also cover London (4 miles west), City of Westminster (6 miles west), Marylebone (6 miles west), Kensington (9 miles west), St Pancras (5 miles west) and Shoreditch (3 miles north-west).
Local landmarks in Blackwall

What we can’t see
Our survey isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll point you to the right survey. What a survey covers and does not.
Roof types and parts we check
- Large and complex roofs
- Fragile roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Tall and steep roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Valleys and parapet gutters

How experienced are you?
Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys, across London and South East England.

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Our Basic Survey starts from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all including VAT.

What happens if roof problems are left?
Small defects on a high roof grow with each storm. Finding them now means less to put right. In a London terrace or conversion, a roof defect rarely stays your problem alone: a blocked parapet gutter or slipped slate can let water into the flat below or the house next door. Finding it early keeps the work smaller.
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so the price reflects that. The price is confirmed before booking.
