Cove Drone Roof Survey
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach for Cove and the rest of Hampshire. We survey on any day of the week.
- Flashings that have come away
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
- Standing water on a flat roof
What we can’t see
Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, so a survey has limits:
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
- Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll tell you. The full list of what we check.
What we check
- Tall and steep roofs
- Large and complex roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Flat roofs on upper floors

- Fragile roofs
Drone roof survey in Cove: what you get
Drone roof surveys are available in Cove and throughout London and the South East, where the airspace and the weather allow. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form. Typical surveys look at cracked mortar along the ridge and vegetation in valleys and gutters, on chimney stacks, fragile roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.
Even in a smaller place like Cove, there may be airfields or restrictions nearby, so every drone flight starts with a check of the Drone Safety Map. Exposed sites can be windy, and a small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind. Neighbours’ privacy is part of planning each flight, along with the airspace and the weather.
The report is written in plain words, so you do not need to be a roofer to follow it. Photos show what each point refers to.

Airspace, weather and Cove roofs
Cove is about 2 miles from Farnborough Airport, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.
Take an older house close to St John the Baptist: steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that is where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps. Shop and office owners around Hart Shopping Centre may find that thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof. Take a building like Parsonage Farm Nursery and Infant School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.
Cove is about 1 mile west of Farnborough, in Hampshire. Whether the building in Cove is a house, a flat or a commercial unit, the roof can be surveyed on a weekday or at the weekend. Our Hampshire coverage includes Cove. We also survey roofs in Guildford.
All of GU14, GU17 and GU51 is within our area for drone roof surveys. Whether your property is on Fleet Road, Trunk Road and Limes Road or anywhere close by, we can help. We also cover the places around Cove: Southwood (1 mile south), Farnborough (1 mile east), North Camp (2 miles south-east), Mytchett (3 miles east) and Ash Vale (4 miles south-east). Further out, we also cover Basingstoke (13 miles west), Alton (13 miles south-west), Yateley (3 miles north-west), Bordon (13 miles south), Hook (7 miles west) and Popley (13 miles west).
Near you in Cove
In Cove, that means homes and buildings near National Aerospace Library, Ancells Farm Park and Cove School, among other places. The nearest railway station is Fleet station, about 1.7 miles west of the centre. Well-known places in the area include Royal Army Dental Corps Historical Museum (2.7 miles south-east) and Fleet Community Hospital (2.4 miles west). The countryside around Cove includes Aunt's Pool and Ball Hill.
What happens on the day
We check the roof from outside and, where it’s relevant and there is safe access, from inside the loft space too. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement. The whole visit normally takes an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In a smaller place like Cove, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. On bungalows and lower roofs, much can be seen from the ground, with the loft showing the underside, while taller roofs may need other vantage points or the drone where applicable.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

Prices for drone roof surveys in Cove

- Basic, Standard or Premium
- The size of the roof
- Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
- Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all with VAT included. Size, height and access can affect the price too.
Helping us price your survey
Before you get in touch, it’s useful to have:
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
- What kind of property and roof it is
- What’s prompted the survey
When you’re ready to go ahead, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. We will suggest a package, agree the price and find a date.
Why act early in Cove
A drone survey disturbs nothing on the roof. Fragile slates and tiles stay as they are, so you see the roof exactly as it is. In a smaller place like Cove, wherever a roof is exposed, a loose ridge or flashing does not stay loose for long. Wind gets under it and lifts more, and water follows.
A Basic Survey starts from £150, inc. VAT. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400. You will know the price for your survey before booking.

FAQs for Cove
Is drone flying allowed in Cove?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Farnborough Airport is about 2 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.
Is my home in Cove listed or in a conservation area?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.
Is Cove in your area?
Yes. We survey roofs across London and South East England, and that includes Cove.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but confirming it is a job for a specialist asbestos surveyor. It may be present in buildings built or refurbished before 2000.
Do you take photos of the roof?
Yes. The report includes photos of what we found, so you can see each point for yourself.
Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?
We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day. Let us know your preferred days when you book.
How much does a drone roof survey cost in Cove?
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. You will know the price for your survey before booking, and it depends on the roof’s size, access and the package you choose. For a price, phone 07833 053749 or email us.
Tips from our surveys
A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:
- A word with neighbours beforehand helps
- Make sure there’s room outside for the drone to take off
- Shut pets inside while we fly
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
The report gives any roofer you ask to quote a clear brief. They’ll see exactly where each defect is, so their quotes cover the same ground.
Do not block the vents at the eaves. Condensation in the loft can damage timbers and insulation. Keep insulation clear of the eaves.
Different roofs, different checks
Large commercial roofs
Many commercial roofs have fragile sheets or roof lights. With a drone, nobody has to go near them.
Ridges and hips
Ridges may be bedded in mortar or mechanically fixed. Their condition is noted in the report.
