Drone roof survey in Enfield

Tall, steep, large or fragile roofs can’t always be inspected up close. A drone takes close-up photos of those roofs from the air. You see slates, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters in detail, including slopes that can’t be seen from the street. The photos go into a written report. It’s also a good option where walking on the roof could break slates or tiles. If we can’t fly, we tell you why. If you’ve noticed tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack and plant growth and moss on the roof, we can find out what’s behind it, on chimney stacks, valleys and parapet gutters and fragile roofs alike.

London airspace is busy and tightly controlled: restriction zones surround Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs have restricted areas of their own. Every address in Enfield is checked before any drone flight, and where permission is needed, the flight waits for it.

You receive the findings by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

The survey, step by step

A survey visit follows a simple order: we listen to what’s been worrying you, inspect the roof from each safe vantage point, photograph what we find and record our findings for the written report. It normally takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. In Enfield, visits are available on weekdays and at weekends. London parking is often by permit or pay-and-display, so it helps to know what’s near you. Upstairs rooms at the back are useful too, as they often give the best view of a rear addition.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are checked.
  4. Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

How to prepare

  • If you’re buying, check with the agent that we can get in
  • Leave a clear route to the loft
  • Point out any leaks or damp patches

Advice

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Enfield

Will parking be an issue for a roof survey in Enfield?

It rarely stops a survey, but it is worth planning. Let us know the parking rules on your street and we’ll work around them.

Is drone flying allowed in Enfield?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.

What insurance do you have?

Our surveys are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.

What does the report include?

It sets out what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, with photos throughout. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, so you know exactly what was covered.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes, as long as access is agreed. Roofs over flats are often shared, so we need permission from the freeholder or managing agent. We can only inspect what we are given access to.

Can you survey at the weekend?

Visits run seven days a week in the daytime. Let us know your preferred days as you book.

How experienced are you?

We’ve been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have completed over 5,000 surveys across London and South East England.

For landlords and managing agents

With a portfolio of properties, surveys can be booked for more than one address. To discuss a number of properties, call 07833 053749 or email us with the addresses.

Where a roof is shared: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Tell us about it when you book and we will plan the survey around it.

What a drone roof survey looks like in Enfield

Across London there are restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, plus restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. About 1.3 miles north-east lies Forty Hall, a reminder of how long the area around Enfield has been built on. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.

If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near Edmonton Green Shopping Centre, thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof. If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near Church of St Andrew, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps. Enfield is in London, so parking needs planning: tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space when you book, as a space near the door cannot be promised.

What this survey cannot tell you

Before booking, it is worth knowing what a survey won’t do:

  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • Flights in a restricted zone without permission
  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll tell you. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters

Should I look at the roof myself first?

After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.

It is useful to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when you book.

How we price drone roof surveys

The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. That comes down to:

  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
  • Whether it is a home or a commercial building
  • The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
  • The roof’s overall size

Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

What we need to know

To price your survey accurately, we’ll ask about:

  • How the loft is reached, if there is one
  • The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat
  • Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
  • The address and postcode of the property

You can call us seven days a week. To book or ask a question, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

Tips that help

Over many surveys, some simple habits stand out:

  • Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
  • Allow for a change of day in poor weather
  • Check the loft can be reached
  • Book early if you are near an airport

There’s a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit.

Keep the loft space ventilated. Poor airflow lets condensation build up, and it’s something only an inside check will show. Check insulation doesn’t block the airflow.
