About our drone roof survey in Enfield Highway
Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. We keep it in sight throughout, and within the 120-metre limit that applies to all drones in the open category. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Airspace and weather are checked before every flight. We never fly where it is not safe. If you’ve noticed damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below and debris building up in hidden gutters, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on fragile roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and large and complex roofs alike.
Flying in London takes more checking than most places: there are flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Before a drone goes up in Enfield Highway, the address is checked against all of them, and permission is never taken for granted.
Every survey ends with a written report, with photos, sent by email. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Enfield Highway
Surveys can also be booked by buyers’ agents acting for a client. Reports are emailed, so they’re easy to pass on, photographs included.
We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords, including offices, shops and units. Bigger roofs take more time, and they’re priced for the size.
When you need someone else
Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, and that sets some limits:
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll recommend the right survey. The full list of what we check.

FAQs for Enfield Highway
Is drone flying allowed in Enfield Highway?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Each address is checked against all of them before the drone goes up. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Is my home in Enfield Highway listed or in a conservation area?
Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
What’s the best way to book?
It’s easiest to call 07833 053749 or drop us an email. Give us the address and a few details about the roof, and we will recommend the right survey. Surveys run on weekdays and at weekends.
Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?
We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day. Let us know your preferred days as you book.
What if it rains on the day?
Light rain is usually fine; heavy rain and wind are different. Strong wind or heavy rain can make access unsafe and ground a drone, so we’d move the date with you.
What happens next?
The report arrives by email. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation.
Is it a structural engineer’s report?
No. We’re roof surveyors, not structural engineers, and it doesn’t include calculations. We will recommend an engineer if we see signs that call for one.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Send it with your enquiry and it will help the survey.
What we do, step by step
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. Then the inspection itself takes an hour or two at most homes; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. In a London conversion, the way into the roof space is often from a communal landing or the top flat. If that applies to your building, it helps to agree access with the neighbours or the managing agent first. Everything else is planned around the building, not the postcode.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
Before the survey
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- Let us know about parking before the day
- If you’re buying, let the agent know when we are coming

Advice
Roof by roof
Chimney stacks
Our drone check of a chimney is visual, not a flue, gas or sweep inspection. We’ll say if a specialist is needed.
Valleys and parapet gutters
A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. You cannot see it from the street at all, but it’s plain to see from the air.

What we’re asked to look at in Enfield Highway
Height and steep pitches make close inspection risky. Tall townhouses, blocks of flats and offices are typical. A drone gets close-up views from a safe position on the ground.
These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
- Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
- Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near St James' Church, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.

What a drone roof survey looks like in Enfield Highway
The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. Across London there are restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, plus restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight.

For older roofs nearby, a look from the air or with a thermal camera is a hands-off way to check condition.
