When you need someone else

To be straight with you, a roof survey has limits:

  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
  • A structural engineer’s report

If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book. The full list of what we check.

What we look at

  • Fragile roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Chimney stacks

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Hampton

Neighbours’ privacy matters on every flight. The camera stays on your roof, not on gardens or windows next door. If your roof is joined to a neighbour’s, it is worth letting them know about the visit. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Each flight is kept short and stays focused on the roof we’re there to survey. We’re often asked to look into wind damage high on the roof and flashings that have come away, across flat roofs on upper floors, tall and steep roofs and valleys and parapet gutters.

In smaller places like Hampton, many homes are bungalows and houses with roofs you can partly see from ground level. Chimney tops, valleys and rear slopes are where close-up or thermal images help most. Both depend on the weather on the day, as calm, dry conditions suit both. Even so, a close-up image frequently shows wear on ridges and flashings that a view from ground level misses.

You receive the findings by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and same day for Premium.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Hampton?

Walking on some roofs does more harm than good. Older slates and tiles break easily, and some sheet roofs are fragile. With a drone, the roof is photographed without anyone stepping on it.

Look out for signs like these:

  • Ridge pieces that have lifted
  • Wind damage high on the roof
  • Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
  • Lead work pulling away at abutments

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Hampton Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether the loft is part of the inspection
  • How soon the report will arrive
  • Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?
  • Whether VAT is in the quoted price

FAQs for Hampton

Are there drone restrictions around Hampton?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.

Do you cover smaller places like Hampton?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.

Do I have to be there for the survey?

Not necessarily. If we only need the outside, we can agree that ahead of time, but anything inside needs someone there to give access.

Can you survey a shared roof?

Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning, with the building owner or managing agent. Let us know about it as you book and we will explain what’s needed.

How long does the survey take?

Most surveys take between one and two hours at most homes, or half a day or so for a commercial building. The report follows by email.

What if it rains on the day?

It can, depending on the survey. Drones can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof and little wind. We will rearrange with you if the weather isn’t right.

What happens after the survey?

You’ll receive the report by email, and what you do next is up to you: use it with a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent.

Drones, thermal imaging and Hampton roofs

Hampton lies within about 1 mile of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near St Andrew's Church, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps.

Hampton is about 2 miles west of Herne Bay, in Kent. We carry out drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Hampton. Hampton is one of the places in Kent where we work. We also survey roofs in Canterbury.

We survey roofs across CT6 for drone roof surveys. Streets in the area include Riley Avenue, Essex Avenue and Alvis Avenue, and we cover them all. We also cover Swalecliffe (2 miles south-west), West End (2 miles south), Chestfield (2 miles south-west), Tankerton (2 miles west) and Radfall (3 miles south-west). Within a short drive, we also cover Canterbury (6 miles south), Margate (12 miles east), Ramsgate (14 miles east), Broadstairs (14 miles east), Faversham (10 miles south-west) and Minster (13 miles west).

Before and after the survey

Small things make a difference. Some pointers:

  • Let us know what you want to see
  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
  • Check there is room outside for the drone to take off
  • Shut pets inside while we fly

You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to talk through the photographs and findings. It is a chance to ask about anything in the report.

Have leaves and moss cleared from gutters, valleys and outlets, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Blocked hidden gutters cause many leaks.

What affects the price in Hampton

To price your survey, we look at:

  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
  • Roof area
  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
  • The number of roofs, including extensions and garages

What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: how big it is, how high it is, the number of separate roofs and how safely it can be seen. Prices start from £400, including VAT.

What to tell us when you get in touch

Before you get in touch, it is useful to have:

  • Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
  • Dates you’re working to, such as exchange
  • What’s prompted the survey
  • The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat

Getting a price is simple: just call 07833 053749 or email us and give us a few details about the property and we’ll recommend the right survey. The price is agreed up front.

Why act early in Hampton

Photos from a drone survey show how the roof looks today. Comparing them with later photos shows what has changed. It helps when you plan ahead. Arranging work in a smaller place like Hampton is easier with notice than in an emergency. A survey gives you that notice.

One thing that affects the price is the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

Why us?

  • 98% customer satisfaction
  • An independent view of the roof
  • More than 5,000 surveys completed
  • Prices that include VAT

The survey, step by step

We’ll ask a few questions first, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. The inspection then takes between one and two hours at a typical home, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Being in a smaller place like Hampton doesn’t change how the visit works: we look from ground level, from windows, from the loft and from the roof where it’s safe. Point out any stains, cracks or loose pieces you’ve spotted.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
  • Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
  • If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
