Drone Roof Survey in Highcliffe
Find out the condition of the roof at your property in Highcliffe. Visits run on weekdays and weekends, in the daytime.
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before you book. This is what makes a difference:
- How big the roof is
- Which survey package you book
- Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
Every price we give includes VAT, and the written report is part of the package. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Size, height and access decide where your roof falls.
Getting in touch
A little information up front helps. It’s useful to include:
- Any deadline, such as an exchange date
- Any photos you have, taken from the ground or a window
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
Our phone lines are open seven days a week, including Saturdays and Sundays. For a price or to book, call 07833 053749 or email us.
Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Highcliffe
Drones need reasonable weather. We do not fly in strong wind or a downpour, because the drone has to stay safely under control. If the weather turns, we will agree another day. The forecast is checked ahead of the visit and again on the day. Light wind and dry weather give the clearest close-up photos. A short delay is better than a rushed flight. We’re often asked to look into slipped or missing slates on a high roof and outlets choked with leaves and silt, across large and complex roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and tall and steep roofs.
In smaller places like Highcliffe, many homes are bungalows and houses with roofs you can partly see from ground level. The parts you cannot see, like rear slopes, valleys and chimney tops, are where a drone or thermal camera adds detail. Both depend on the weather on the day, as calm, dry conditions suit both. Even so, a close-up image often shows wear on ridges and flashings that a view from ground level misses.
It is not only a list of defects. For each finding, it explains what it is, why it matters and what we’d recommend, so you can plan your next steps.

The survey, step by step
We work from the outside in: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the roof space where it can be reached. All told, expect an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Parking around Highcliffe is typically easier than in a town centre, but mention lanes, gates or long drives. Low roofs on bungalows can frequently be seen well from ground level, and the loft shows the rest, while taller roofs may need other vantage points or the drone where it applies.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
How to prepare
- If you are buying, check with the agent that we can get in
- Find any records of previous roof work
- Leave a clear route to the loft

Should I look at the roof myself first?
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.
What this survey cannot tell you
A survey is a careful look at the roof, but it can’t do everything. Its limits include:
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll tell you before booking. The full list of what we check.
What this survey covers
- Large and complex roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Fragile roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Valleys and parapet gutters
When to book a survey in Highcliffe
Walking on some roofs does more harm than good. Older slates and tiles break easily, and some sheet roofs are fragile. A drone lets us see them closely without touching them.
Common reasons to book include:
- Standing water on a flat roof
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
- Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
- Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
Hotels and guest houses near Highcliffe can’t easily close rooms for a leak.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- Is there a chance to talk the report through?
- Will the report include photos?
- What they won’t be able to tell you
- Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?

Practical tips
There is plenty you can do without going near the roof. What helps most:
- Make sure there’s room outside for the drone to take off
- Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
- Share the postcode so we can check for restrictions
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to go through what the drone showed. You can ask about anything that isn’t clear.
Look at the roof from the ground after strong winds. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone survey can show what has shifted.
Drones, thermal imaging and Highcliffe roofs
Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. There are several hotels within about a mile and a half of Highcliffe, and hotels, like offices and blocks of flats, frequently have flat roofs. For hotels and other commercial buildings, large roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once.
Anyone responsible for a site like All Saints Church of England Primary School will know that thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. Take an older house close to All Saints: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

FAQs for Highcliffe
Is Highcliffe within the area you cover?
Yes, Highcliffe is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.
Is drone flying allowed in Highcliffe?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
What’s in the report?
It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos. The most urgent items are made clear.
Will you go up on the roof?
Not always. Safety comes first, and fragile or steep roofs can’t always be walked on. Safe viewpoints, the loft and a drone where it applies let us see the rest, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.
Are you insured?
We are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.
How much does a drone roof survey cost in Highcliffe?
Prices start from £400, including VAT. The final figure depends on the roof and the package you choose, confirmed before anything is booked.
What do I do with the report?
You will get the report by email. With Standard there is a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation.
