When you need someone else

Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, and that sets some limits:

  • Flights in strong wind or heavy rain
  • Close-up photos of next door’s property
  • Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)

If you are not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Jericho

Our price is from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where it applies, is also part of our Premium Survey, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. If a drone won’t help on your roof, we’ll say so. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. If you’ve noticed worn lead at chimneys and walls and coverings that have slipped high up on the roof, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.

Older cottages and houses around Jericho may have little insulation, and some have extensions with their own roofs. A thermal image can show where heat is escaping or where moisture may be trapped, and drone photos show the roof surfaces themselves. Findings are checked with moisture readings where needed. Results depend on the weather, so the visit is planned around the forecast.

The report works through the roof section by section, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets, each with a short note and a photograph. It records what’s sound as well as what isn’t.

Useful tips for Jericho property owners

A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They apply to most roofs:

  • Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
  • Expect us to rearrange if it’s too windy or wet
  • Shut pets inside while we fly

File the report and photos with your home documents. They’re a useful baseline for future surveys, and they help if you sell.

Don’t block the vents at the eaves. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Make sure insulation doesn’t block the airflow.

Common questions in Jericho

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Jericho?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.

Do you cover smaller places like Jericho?

Yes, we do. We work right across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it’s useful to know about access.

Will you photograph what you find?

Yes. Photos are taken throughout the survey, and they go into the written report alongside our recommendations.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in if we are looking inside or in the loft. We will talk about access when booking.

What does the report include?

It sets out what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, with photos throughout. Anything we couldn’t see safely is noted too, so you know exactly what was covered.

What if it rains on the day?

It can, depending on the survey. Drones cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof and little wind. We will rearrange with you if the weather is not right.

Can you survey a shared roof?

Yes, once access has been agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is frequently shared, so whoever owns or manages the building needs to agree access. We can only inspect what we are given access to.

How the survey works

Before we start, tell us why you’ve booked: buying, a leak, storm damage, new work or just wanting to know where things stand. That way we can focus on what matters to you. Most visits take between one and two hours for a house, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. For a survey in Jericho, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. Tell us about any garages, outbuildings or extensions you want included.

  1. First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
  2. A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
  3. The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
  4. If the loft can be reached safely, it’s checked too.
  5. Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.

Preparing for the visit

  • Leave a clear route to the loft
  • If you are buying, check with the agent that we can get in
  • If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building

Booking a survey

Prices start from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, so call 07833 053749 or send us an email with the details.

Common roof problems in Jericho

Steep and tall roofs are hard to inspect safely. Tall townhouses, blocks of flats and offices are typical. A drone gets close-up views from a safe position on the ground.

Here are some of the things we see often:

  • Debris building up in hidden gutters
  • Chimney tops in poor condition
  • Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
  • Worn lead at chimneys and walls

Anyone responsible for a site like St Barnabas' Church of England Aided Primary School will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

What to check before booking

  • Their report turnaround times
  • Which viewpoints they use to see the roof
  • Whether the loft is part of the inspection
  • Their drone registration, if they fly one

What a good roof survey covers

DIY checks: what’s safe

Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, which helps when we look at the roof.

Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Water spilling over the edge can point to a blockage or a sagging run.

What a drone roof survey looks like in Jericho

Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Older buildings in west Oxfordshire frequently have Cotswold stone slate roofs, and some Oxfordshire villages still have thatch. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these.

If you own one of the older houses in the streets near St Barnabas Church, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image. A roof leak in a hotel or guest house around Jericho means lost rooms as well as repairs.
