Drone roof survey in Limehouse
Drone roof surveys are available in Limehouse and throughout London and the South East, subject to airspace checks and the weather. We fly seven days a week. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, phone 07833 053749 or email us with the address. We survey flat roofs on upper floors, tall and steep roofs and valleys and parapet gutters, and the problems we are asked to look at most are cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below and vegetation in valleys and gutters.
Many London roofs are hidden from the pavement: butterfly roofs behind parapets, dormer tops and flat roofs over back additions. Drone photos and thermal images can show parts of a roof that are hard to reach safely. Weather on the day decides whether it goes ahead, in Limehouse as anywhere. Thermal images show surface temperature, not water itself, so findings are checked with moisture readings.
Where we can’t see part of the roof, the report says so. You’ll know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

The survey, step by step
Photos are taken throughout the visit, so you can see in the report what we found and where. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available, including by drone where it is applicable and the weather allows. Most surveys take roughly 1–2 hours at a typical home, or half a day or so for a commercial building. For a visit in Limehouse, parking and access are the things to plan: let us know about parking, the floor the property is on, any shared entrance and loft access. We then look at whatever is safely visible from the ground, windows, the loft and, where it is safe, the roof itself.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it before the visit.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
Booking a survey
A quick phone call is usually the easiest start: ring 07833 053749 or email us, and we will ask about the building and what you need. The price is agreed before a date is set.

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Limehouse
The top of a stack is the most exposed part of many roofs. From ground level, you rarely see cracked flaunching or loose pots. Close-up drone photos show their condition.
Signs worth acting on include:
- Lifted or split lead flashings
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
Limehouse is in London, so parking needs planning: let us know about permits, visitor bays or off-street space when you book.
What to check before booking
- Whether VAT is added on top
- Whether the loft is part of the inspection
- What follow-up you get after the report
- Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?
Different roofs, different checks
Ridges and hips
The ridge takes wind from both sides. A drone shows cracked mortar and loose ridge tiles.
Steep slate and tile slopes
Steep roofs are risky to walk on. From the air, every course of slates or tiles can be seen, showing slipped, cracked and missing pieces.
Why get it checked now?
Close-up photos make conversations with roofers clearer. They show the location and extent of each defect. Work on a London roof is rarely simple to arrange, with parking, neighbours and access all to think about. Knowing what’s needed early gives you time to plan it calmly, rather than in a rush after a leak.
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Basic starts from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, VAT included, and we can help you choose.

Should I look at the roof myself first?
Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
Prices for drone roof surveys in Limehouse
Survey packages start from £150, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on:
- The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- Which survey package you book
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
We offer three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, all including VAT. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.
Helping us price your survey
Before you get in touch, it’s useful to have:
- Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them

Common questions in Limehouse
Is my home in Limehouse listed or in a conservation area?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Limehouse?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Limehouse is about 1 mile from the edge of the flight restriction zone around London City Airport. The exact boundary is checked for each address before any flight, and a roof inside it needs permission before we fly. The restricted area over the Isle of Dogs, where drone flights need permission from NATS, is about 2 miles from Limehouse. We check whether the address falls inside it, and if it does we apply for permission, which is not always given. London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every London address is checked against them before a flight. High wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Does the weather affect the survey?
Light rain is normally fine; heavy rain and wind are different. In high wind or heavy rain, a drone cannot fly and access may not be safe, and we’d agree another day.
Do you look in the roof space?
If it’s needed and safe to reach, yes. We look for staining, damp, daylight and signs of movement, as far as the space allows.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
Over 5,000 surveys so far, across 20+ years of surveying roofs, with 98% customer satisfaction.
What’s the best way to book?
To arrange a survey, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address, the type of property and what’s prompted the survey. We’ll confirm the price and agree a day with you.
Will I get photos?
Yes, every report has them. Pictures sit next to the findings they show, so you can see what we mean.

Drone roof surveys in Limehouse: local notes
The restricted area over the Isle of Dogs, where drone flights need permission from NATS, is about 2 miles from Limehouse. If a roof falls inside it, we apply for permission before flying, and the flight only goes ahead if it is granted. Many homes in inner London are Victorian and Edwardian terraces, often with Welsh slate roofs. Behind many of their parapets sit butterfly roofs and valley gutters that cannot be seen from the pavement. Shared chimney stacks, party-wall upstands and lead work come with this kind of house. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail.
Anyone responsible for a site like Stepney Greencoat Church of England Primary School will know that big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once. If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, big, flat commercial roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images help most.
